Josh, If you use the new Application Builder, it will let you set the extent in the spatial reference of the map. You could create a new Viewer using the Application Builder and just copy the coordinates to your existing Viewer's config. http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/help/#/Getting_started_with_the_application_builder/01m30000002v000000/

Try setting requestTimeout and then you should get an error if it doesn't respond in time: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/apiref/com/esri/ags/tasks/BaseTask.html#requestTimeout

The graphicProvider is unaffected by the clustering. Try this: for (var i:int = 0, n:int = myGraphicsLayer.numChildren; i < n; i++)
{
var graphic:Graphic = myGraphicsLayer.getChildAt(i) as Graphic;
if (graphic is ClusterGraphic)
{
trace(graphic);
}
}

This sample is close to that: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/samples/index.html#/Population_for_any_area/01nq00000023000000 After getting the buffer, you could query the layer instead of calling a GP.

If you iterate over the graphics in the graphics layer, the clusters are instances of ClusterGraphic. See: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/apiref/com/esri/ags/clusterers/supportClasses/ClusterGraphic.html

When using time instants, they have to be exact matches for the feature's start time field if you only have a start time field and no end time field.

FeatureLayer.queryFeatures() always returns geometry since it tries to return the features it has already loaded if they satisfy the query and they will have geometries so that can be shown on the map.

This bug should be fixed in the 2.5 release. This bug has to do with changing the visible property of the tiled layer in the extentChange event handler. An alternative to doing this is to just use the minScale and maxScale properties available on Layer. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

You could create a custom Renderer class that overrides the getSymbol() method. You could first delegate to a ClassBreaksRenderer to get a symbol with the right color and then check the other attribute and set the style. http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/flex/apiref/com/esri/ags/renderers/Renderer.html
