I think in that case an ideal output will be Unna, Dortmund and Schwerte all 3 combined into one shape. Similarly if Schwerte later has the highest value for some other municipality then that municipality will also be combined with these 3. So its a kind of chain formation. This is a rationalization project so I want to form single bigger regions combining the little municipalities.

In the table attached you can see the destination cities in 'Destination' field. Many of them are same - Werne Werne Werne....... I want to create a script/model such that when run, it loops through all the rows with the same destination city (all the rows that have Werne for example) and then out of them selects the row that has the maximum value in the 'Commuters' field and then dissolves the destination city with the origin city ('Origin' field) for that row. For example for Werne the row with the maximum value in the commuter field is the first row. So the tool should identify that and then dissolve Werne with Bergkamen in the map. And then this should be done for every destination city. So basically the looping must happen only until the rows with same destination cities. Then after dissolving that city with its origin city a new loop should be created for the next destination city in the 'Destination' field.

I have a feature class that I want to upload to ArcGIS online as a feature service. In ArcMap the shapes seem to be correctly aligned with an OSM basemap. But when I upload this same feature class to ArcGIS online and view the shapes on an OSM basemap they seem to be completely misaligned. How is this possible? What should I do to align them properly with the basemap?

Thanks. I guess most people look at the smoothing effect and don't think too much about the differences and just take Kernel as it gives better visual display. I guess thats what I'm gonna do.

As a student from a non-statistical Background - No they did not ! Athough I can understand what the tools do differently, still I can't think of example and say this one or that one would really be appropriate.

I think it is correct to assume that the hotspot tool would be a bit same as the density tool when no analysis field is specified and the point counts themseleves are taken as values to check clusturing. What makes it different from density tool is that it checks clustering of specific values of points for example if points represent cities and you input a schools field in the hotspot analsyis field then it will check if the cities with more schools or less schools cluster or not but it wont check if the cities themselves cluster which the density tool would do. So basically it checks clusturing of specific values (schools in this case) inside the points (cities in this case) as opposed to just number of points.

Hi, Can someone give me an example each where these two tools would be appropriate to use. I kind of understood what each of them does but can't seem to figure out examples where one would be more appropriate than the other. Both seem to show density just fine. Thanks!

Okay so I finally figured this out. It was a stupid mistake on my part. The files I had in the specified folders were actually feature classes and not datasets. Anyway it is not possible to create a dataset inside a folder. It can only be done inside a geodatabase. So for someone who knows their way around with ArcGIS, they could have noticed that I had just a folder in the code but I was calling ListDataSets() function which is wrong. Using ListFeatureClasses() solved the issue and the files were properly reprojected. Thanks for all the inputs.

replacing the shape file with the prj file doesn't change anything. Same syntax error. And I thought it was enough to just point to the shape file to get its projection.

Thanks this was a valid error. But even after I correct it nothing changes. Still Pythonwin tells me invalid syntax and arcmap doesnt do anything after running the code.

lol Ok I could indeed see the Bookmark now after adding a Bookmark in the map BEFORE creating the app. But maybe there is no way to add the Bookmarks in the app itself.
