Thanks for the information. Yes it won't work in our case this time but it is good to know for the future.

It appears to me that these replication packages are created and left in AGOL when there is a failure in the synchronization, can anyone confirm this? At least that is one way they are created. There were a bunch created in our AGOL account this weekend (in our primary admin account's root folder), and when I checked our Portal logs there were various synchronization failures. Each failure correspond to a replication package on AGOL. I'm guessing in our case it might be a network problem because the layer being synched is not being actively updated -- it is a test layer. But the sync continues to run every hour. The replication packages don't appear to be created when a sync is successful. I assume it is safe to delete these, as long as a successful sync happens after the last failure? In our case, we have had multiple successful syncs after the last error. Here are some of the error messages I saw in Portal log viewer (bi-directional collaboration is set up and the errors reflect this): The downloading of peer replication package on portal with id '{ID}' failed. A scheduled job synchronizing items of collaboration '{collaboration}', '{ID}' and collaboration workspace '{ID}' with participant '{ID}' has failed. The import of replication package on portal with id '{ID}' failed.

Thanks for the information Thomas, it was very helpful and it confirmed my suspicions. The workflow I am likely to implement is publish to AGOL as a "hosted" feature layer, enable editing there, and then sync via distributed collaboration back to Enterprise as an "ArcGIS managed" hosted feature layer in Portal. The parameters I am up against in this project are: - Editing must be enabled on the AGOL "hosted" feature layer. - Our Enterprise system is not available to the Internet, so sharing as a reference will not work in this case. We have a need to access the data on a mobile device that is not on the network and doesn't have VPN access. Thanks again, Brian

Hello everyone, I have a distributed collaboration scenario and I want to make sure that I am on the right track in understanding the limitations correctly. Question 1: It appears to me that when you have a feature layer that is published for collaboration you can only enable editing on the side where you initially publish it. Is that correct? So if you publish to ArcGIS Enterprise, you enable editing there and cannot enable editing in AGOL, and vice-versa. Question 2: Is it true that you cannot have a “hosted” feature layer in AGOL sync to a “user managed” ArcGIS Enterprise feature service with data residing in SQL? You can only sync to an “ArcGIS managed” feature layer in Portal? Details My preferred workflow will not work for what I am trying to accomplish: Publish a “user-managed” feature service with data referenced in a SQL geodatabase into a federated ArcGIS Enterprise Portal. Using distributed collaboration, have that data sync to a “hosted” feature layer on AGOL. My editing requirements are one-way, but I want the editing to be done on the destination “hosted” feature layer in AGOL, not on the initially-published Enterprise SQL feature service. When I set this up, the data synched from Enterprise to AGOL, but then I was not able to enable editing on the “hosted” feature layer in AGOL. The only thing I could do is disable editing in Enterprise. Alternate workflow: Publish a “hosted” feature layer directly to AGOL and enable editing. Using distributed collaboration, have that data sync to a “user-managed” feature service with data referenced in SQL. This feature service does not need to have editing enabled, it can be read-only. The Esri distributed collaboration Q&A suggests this workflow is not possible. Question: Can I copy data from ArcGIS Online into my enterprise geodatabase? Answer: No. Destination layers within a collaboration must be hosted layers from ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise. As I understand that answer: the sync must be to an “ArcGIS managed” hosted feature layer in Portal. It cannot be a “user managed” feature service with data in SQL. Software used: ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1. I would greatly appreciate any feedback! Hilary Curtis

I also had this problem today. The ability to remove depends on where you right-click.

Thanks for the info in this thread. I have experienced the same bug in this environment: ArcMap 10.7 MS SQL Server 2017 Only happened on feature services with Esri binary spatial type, ones that have been converted to SQL Geometry type did not report the error

Thanks for the tip, Brian, and also clearing up the confusion over the various IWA bugs. I tried your temporary solution with the index.html and it works great. In our case we will have to wait for the official 10.8.1 fix, though, because the auto-refresh at 20 minutes will be jarring for our users. If they have Dashboard filters set, the refresh resets them every 20 minutes and I'm sure that will lead to frustration.

Hi John, Any idea when 10.8.1 might be released? I assume the pattern is 10.8.0 in Q1 2020 and then 10.8.1 around the Esri UC time in summer?

Here is our experience with this problem: Software Environment ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 Portal + Server federated (fresh install, not upgrade) Single machine install Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) enabled, Windows Server 2016 Timeout happens when we use the Portal for ArcGIS Operations Dashboard or Web AppBuilder. Initial load is successful without user prompt via IWA. Thereafter, every 30 minutes users are prompted to "Sign In," which they often have to click multiple times then it eventually goes away. Alternatively they can refresh the browser. Originally we were attached to #BUG-000124152: "Server tokens generated by Portal for ArcGIS does not respect the ArcGIS Server’s token expiration settings if Portal for ArcGIS is configured with Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA)." This bug was recently marked "Not in Current Product Plan" and referred us to a separate bug. Now we are attached to the other #BUG-000127276: "When accessing a secured service from a federated server through Map Viewer or Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS in Portal for ArcGIS 10.6.1 using Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA), the service token fails to regenerate automatically and causes the service to become blank when the token expires." But this bug is logged as "Implemented in 10.7," which in our case it does not seem to be fixed in our 10.7.1 environment. I did try changing the token setting in ArcGIS Server Manager and that did not work for us either. Sidenote - If we use ArcGIS Online Operations Dashboard or Web AppBuilder with our IWA-secured Enterprise map services we do not see the timeout. BTW: I guess this is a "Brian" issue

My vote for this is for wherever there is a measure tool in the ArcGIS Online / Portal apps. Including Experience Builder, Web AppBuilder, etc.

The status of BUG-000118826 has been changed to "Implemented" in the My Esri portal. The ArcGIS Online version where fixed is 7.3. I assume this means the fix will show up in the next update of ArcGIS Online, which appears to be scheduled for October 1. Hopefully the update will also make its way into the next ArcGIS Enterprise update as well!

Big-time yes! I've had intermittent issues where the Dashboard will zoom to full world extent (likely due to our use of the Esri World Imagery service as a basemap). I have seen this happen upon initially loading the dashboard and also when the web browser is resized. This problem does not happen in Web AppBuilder apps where you can define the zoom level extents.

Hi Jonathan, The layer is about as simple as it can be -- it is a point layer with only 71 features (points). It only has about a dozen or so attributes and has attachments enabled (only a handful of attachments exist). It's also only available internally, there is no public app that uses it. Internally there are about 3-4 apps that use it. Nobody uses the layer in any of the ArcGIS desktop software. I will look into the SQL database trace.
