Hi There, I am evaluating Amazon cloud as an option for accessing ArcGIS for Desktop (ArcMap) and wanted to know more from other users in the community. We need access to ArcGIS for desktop (ArcMap) for a short term project (3 months). As an option, could go and purchase desktop license but I am curious if cloud provides economical option since we need the application for a short duration. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks Jay

Yes, the code returns what is expected. tnames & tvalues objects contain are all the values in the property set. Below is the code that shows how the code is being used. I looked up ESRI help, link here: ArcObjects Help for .NET developers. If Not pPS Is Nothing Then vaValues = pPS.GetProperty("idinfo/keywords/theme/themekey") 'Check for different xml tag for ArcGIS 10 metadata If IsNothing(vaValues) Then vaValues = pPS.GetProperty("dataIdInfo/themeKeys/keyword") If Not IsNothing(vaValues) Then valuesArray = CType(vaValues, System.Array) For Each v In valuesArray If InStr(CType(v, String), "HUK") > 0 Then returnArray.Add(CType(v, String)) End If Next End If End If

Hi There, I am trying to resolve an issue with an ArcObjects extension. This particular portion of logic, gathers metadata for layers in the map. It works fine with regular data layers but with network data (pipeline network layer), it takes much longer than expected. The point layers participating (exp: wells, facilities, pipelines nodes) within network are fine, it's only the pipeline (line) that takes longer. This impacts user workflow when they are trying to switch data frames (one with network data and other with schematics data). Initially i thought that it was related to missing metadata but adding metadata didn't help resolve this issue. I am looking for some suggestions on what may be the workaround for this issue. Our environment is ArcGIS 10.2.2, VB.NET, .NET4 code base. Below is the code. Appreciate any input. Thanks Jay Dim pMD As IMetadata Dim pPS As IPropertySet pDLayer = CType(pLayer, IDataLayer) pMD = CType(pDLayer.DataSourceName.Open, IMetadata) If Not pMD Is Nothing Then Dim vaValues As Object Dim v As Object Dim valuesArray As System.Array pPS = New PropertySet pPS = pMD.Metadata Dim tnames As Object Dim tvalues As Object Dim vFormat As Object 'Return the metadata elements pPS.GetAllProperties(tnames, tvalues) - code takes much longer for pipeline data

Hi There, I have a GP model that does some analysis and adds few columns in the feature class. I ran this model successfully on my local machine and after that I published this model as a service. The model was published successfuly as well. When i use this GP service and use the featureclasses that are located on my machine, service comes back with an error. I am not sure if GP service can make change to a feature class that is local on my pc. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks Jay

Hi All, I am trying to figure out an issue with ArcGIS Server (10.2). Basically I am geting this message and after that number of these issues start happening: Cant publish new services Fail to start existing service Failed to do caching I am looking for some help on this to see what may be causing this issue and best way to resolve this. I have noticed that it happens 3-4 times during the month. Appreciate any input. Thanks Jay

Hi There, I am working on a requirement where I need to provide a web solution within client???s environment. In terms of data there are some small business layers but there are large reference layers that will be shown on the map. I am looking for feedback on ArcGIS Online solution. Most of the demos that I have seen show small datasets. I wanted to get some feedback from users who have implemented Arc GIS Online solution with large datasets. Another related question is at what point it becomes cost effective to go for ArcGIS Server solution rather than an Arc GIS Online solution. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks Jay

Hi There, Here is my scenario: I have large number of map services (100+) within current production environment (10.1) that I need to migrate to the new server environment for 10.2. As part of upgrade, new ArcGIS Server 10.2 wil be hosted on a new server. I wanted to know if there is way to script/automate publishing of map services? Thanks Jay

Thanks Morten for your feedback. I havent done much with Silverlight API but I am curious if here a way to get the vertices from PolygonN. This way I can get the vertices of the geomtry and pass it as a list. Are there are resources thst have sample showing how to do this. Thanks again. Jay You cannot mix two different geometry models. What you are essentially doing is assigning one type to a completely different type, which naturally isn't allowed. You will need to write some code that converts PolygonN into Client.Geometry.Polygon.

Hi There, I am having this issue with using Geomtry that is returned from a WCF service. As part of the service, I have added a service reference for the map service that I am using in this project. I am trying to return 'ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Geometry.Geometry as a return type but when I assign the Geomtry to my result, it comes back with this error: 'Geometry' is an ambiguous reference between 'GIS.Services.Data.BoundaryMapService.Geometry' and 'ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Geometry.Geometry'. I am not sure what needs to be done to resolve this issue. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks Jay ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Geometry.Geometry resultGeometry = null; for (int i = 0; i < attributes.Values.Count(); i++) if (attributes.Values is PolygonN) { PolygonN featureExtent = attributes.Values as PolygonN; resultGeometry = featureExtent; // Error here... }

Hi There, I am trying to get vertices of a polygon and having some issues with it. I have PolygonN object and would like to get PointCollection and get access to each points that make up the polygon, any ideas? var records = client.QueryFeatureData(mapName, layerId, queryDef); var recordsEnumerator = records.Records.GetEnumerator(); while (recordsEnumerator.MoveNext()) { Record attributes = recordsEnumerator.Current as Record; for (int i = 0; i < attributes.Values.Count(); i++) if (attributes.Values is PolygonN) { PolygonN featureExtent = attributes.Values as PolygonN; PointCollection vertices = featureExtent as PointCollection; //<<<<<<<<<<<Problem here } }
