So, the 1.0.0.1566 update is an update to Pre-Release, built 2014-10-28. So guess we'll have additional build cycles. Which is good because one nice gotcha with the update package--it uninstalls the prior build and while doing so clobbers the Start Menu entry. Have to hunt for the executable (C:\Program Files\ArcGISPro\bin\ArcGISPro.exe) and send a shortcut to desktop and add a folder and launcher back to the start menu. Oh so fun to be an Esri user beta tester... Stuart

The MyEsri portal continues to offer ArcGIS Pro pre-release installer as ArcGISPro_1472_143675.exe It installs 1.0.0.1472 created 2014-10-01 and when running this pre-release build, we now are being offered update to 1.0.0.1566 So, is this build the final 1.0 release, if so when will it be posted to MyEsri to obtain the installer to deploy? Or, is this just an incremental, and installing 1566 against the 1472 still would be "pre-release"? Stuart

Sandy L As Becky notes, localhost should do the trick. Alternatively, setting IP of 127.0.0.1 (IPv4). or possibly may need to set ::1 (IPv6), will have the system and FlexNet Publisher licensing talking to itself. Do not set an FQDN or non-loopback IP. Stuart

Andrew Stauffer Hey, you may want to clarify that you are comparing apples and oranges--ArcGIS Online or Portal named users, versus ELA or MCL licensing agreements that can have both per named user licensing (individually issued ESU codes) and organizational use Single Use License authorization codes that are used across the organization. Everything is pretty clear that ArcGIS Online and Portal (and now ArcGIS Pro) do require a per-named user management. Not the case at all for Authorization codes. Stuart

Lauren Damon The Windows installer error 2908 are all failures in writing to the Windows registry. First thing to do is open the Windows registry with "regedit" (run from a command window 'Run as Administator') and set a RegistrySizeLimit DWORD value of 0xffffffff (eight f's) in this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ create it anew if not already present. Also, check that you have not disabled support for .NET 3.5sp1 -- done from "appwiz.cpl" (also run from a command window 'Run as Administator') and the "Turn Windows features on or off" from the menu on the left. In the Windows Features dialog that opens--make sure there is a blue selection box made for the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 entry. If not, set it and OK out. If already set, just cancel out. Restart the computer! Disable UAC and any Anti-virus/anti-malware program! Make another attempt at the installation--are you working with DVD media, or the downloaded installer? Either way, you need to make sure to run the installation as an Administrator. When clicking on the ESRI.exe, or on the extracted Setup.exe, use the right mouse button and "Run as Administrator". Post back if still stuck. Stuart

Verena Beckmann Not sure if the installers prevent this--they should--so it is possible you have the wrong mix of 64-bit'ness. If you installed the 64-bit ArcHydro extension, had you first installed the 64-bit geoprocessing for ArcGIS for Desktop as well? The 64-bit geoprocessing extension installs another build of Python (64-bit), and remaps some of the Python calls to 64-bit ArcPy versions. Those have to be there for the 64-bit ArcHydro tools to make use of. Also, could be an issue with the Tutorial 2.0 exercise data (FGDB and/or Shape files). Truthfully it has been a while since I worked through them? Christine Dartiguenave, any comment on changes needed to handle the old tutorial data in newer builds of ArcGIS and ArcHydro Tools? Stuart

Mary Ann Mar, *, OK good luck. I've added a few links. And since the GSFLOW literature points folks to the USGS GIS Weasel (ArcInfo Workstation and AML based, circa 2003) there are more current alternatives. For example the USDA National Water Climate Center has a more current ArcGIS for Desktop based processor in the Basin Analysis Geographic Information System (BAGIS) program hosted by Portland State University. Current release (2013) remains VBA SDK dependent (an extra extension to ArcGIS) but it looks like they'll move it to .NET code at some point. Lesley Bross Geoffrey Duh at PSU any comment or suggestions for Mary Ann? Stuart

Mary Ann Mar, *, Would depend on your Academic, Commercial or Governmental affiliation--somewhere in the mix there would need to be a license agreement with Esri for access to and use of the ArcGIS product. If you are at an Academic institution that has Esri campus or lab agreement in place, find out whom your primary contact is--they'll have access to the My Esri portal. But, I really do not believe that you are going to require ArcInfo Workstation and AML scripting to derive the HRU details needed for PRMS and MODFLOW components of GSFLOW. It is trivial to use a seat of ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced (trial version is fine), and the ArcHydro Tools extensions with NED/SRTM/GDEM data to derive the needed HRUs and corresponding finite-difference cell polygons for the use in a GSFLOW ground and surface flow model simulation. Otherwise, preprocessed NHD Plus/Hydro Basins data is readily available. Or even Esri's new ArcGIS Online delivered--Hydrology Analysis Services--data should need minimal preparation to allow you to run the GSFLOW (Markstrom, et.al, 2008) model for any location n the world. Stuart edit note: moved to Hydro and added links URLs

Mary Ann Mar, *, Hmmm, not sure that you really want the ArcInfo Workstation 10.0 install, it is rather dated. But is available to current subscribers on the My Esri portal. If you instead are interested in the 60-day trial for ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced (aka. ArcInfo) level, that is available here: ArcGIS for Desktop | Free Trial Stuart

Gary Fields, *, ArcGIS Symbols are defined making use of installed fonts. If the installation was complete, you will have TrueType font libraries TTF installed into C:\Windows\Fonts directory. For ArcGIS 10.x should be 73 named esri_1.ttf --> esri_837.ttf. These font/symbol libraries will have a Title associated with them, e.g. esri_1.tif is Titled: ESRI Cartography and esri_837.ttf is Titled: ESRI ERS Operations S1. If they are missing, or can't be read the system will substitute a replacement from an available font/symbol library on the system. A common one that causes issues for folks is the esri_40.ttf library titled: ESRI North--those are the North arrow symbols that don't exist on most systems and sometime are not embedded into PDF printouts from ArcMap -- the arrow is missing and a weird character is shown instead. So, take a moment to look in C:\Windows\Fonts and check that the ESRI fonts are present, and also that in the Properties --> Security tab Users are able to Read & Execute, and Read the fonts/symbols. Be sure to check a few of them. If not present, try the repair install. If present and incorrect permissions, should be able to assign correctly (or rerun the installation "Run as Administrator"). Stuart Edit note: adjusted first sentence--symbols are defined making use of installed fonts, rather than symbols are installed as fonts. They aren't but they need the fonts available to structure the symbols.

@Dio Dinta, *, 64-bit Windows--but are you on Windows 7 sp1, 8 or is it 8.1? Have a look in the Windows system event logs found in the Control Panel --> Administrative tools --> Event viewer . There should be a more complete error message for the MSIEXEC Error 1321 than what shows in the Error dialog. The problem can still be an ownership/permission for the .prj file itself in the installation folder, or possibly that it is held as in use in the Windows Registry in a value or KEY that can't be deleted. Either case the log should give us a clue. Stuart
