Hi Jason, This may not be the same issue caused by the Microsoft patch. If you ever see a crash again, please contact Esri Technical Support at 888-377-4575. -Scott

Thanks Suzanne... this Geonet post is part of our investigation, so hopefully by collecting this information we can establish the pattern that causes it. -Scott

Hi Suzanne, Yeah that makes sense... I looked through the case, but didn't see where the above information was captured. I bet you may not remember all of the things we are asking for now, but do you know what antivirus software you had (or still have) installed when the issue occurred? Thanks, Scott

Kelly Gerrow Kevin is noticing the following behavior when searching for items and setting an extent filter: In a web map, zoom in to Savannah, Georgia USA. Add > Search for layers. Set the filter to "only show content within map area". Search for "stadiums". The top result is this item: https://arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=eb3d7b273ed5418882be29e9b4148d46. The closest point in that layer is ~130 miles away from Savannah. I am guessing the particular item is returned in the above example because its Extent property is set to the entire US. Do you know if this is the expected behavior of Search? Perhaps this is a known limit of Search at the moment? I don't think there is currently a way to only include layers that intersect the current map's extent like Kevin is requesting. NOTE: In the documentation, we have the following note "All layers that overlap your current map extent (and match your keywords) are returned." - Add layers to maps—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS Thanks! Kevin, I think this goes back to what I originally mentioned about the search accounts for the "Extent" property that is set on the Item Details page. If you have an example of a layer that shouldn't show up in a particular search, I can try to dig a bit more into it. -Scott

FYI This layer is not shared: https://utility.arcgis.com/usrsvcs/servers/e6f021cb0526409a8224baf75aa0aa4c/rest/services/PDSD/WardsDash/MapServer/0 I used Fiddler, a web debugging utility, to find out. For that layer, I can see the following response: {"error":{"code":403,"messageCode":"GWM_0003","message":"You do not have permissions to access this resource or perform this operation.","details":[]}}

I see a similar thread over here: https://community.esri.com/message/811252-re-project-save-error?commentID=811252#comment-811252 In my research, I'm not seeing others reporting this error. Perhaps it's time to contact Esri Technical Support at 888-377-4575. A few questions that I would ask: How long has this project been open? When was the last time you successfully were able to save? Since it's on a network location, do others have access to this location? Is your IT actively scanning that location with antivirus software, as Thomas mentioned in that other thread?

From what I just said to Janaki above: When a project gets to this state, so far, there is not a way to recover it, unfortunately. To understand the cause, here are the types of things we'd like to know: Exact steps carried on the system or in ArcGIS Pro before the project starts to throws this error. If ArcGIS Pro crashed while attempting to save just before the issue started, we want to collect the associated error report found in C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\ESRI\ErrorReports. Finally, we also want to look for similarities in environment - ex. Antivirus software installed, Windows updates applied recently, etc. If this information wasn't provided in the case, feel free to contact Esri Technical Support at 888-377-4575, as we would like to have it. Thanks! Scott

Hi Malcolm, I tested with my own points in NAD_1983_StatePlane_Ohio_South_FIPS_3402_Feet in ArcMap 10.6 and Pro 2.2.4, but got the same output from the Feature Class to Feature Class tool in both programs. Some questions: In the tool, are you referencing the layers in the map or the feature classes on disk? Can you provide a screenshot of the tool environments you are using?

Ah thanks for the context. That is certainly odd behavior.. my best suggestion is to keep working with Tech Support. For the original problem.. where the Task is lost, I think Amir was saying that he was unable to reproduce. I'd say that 7 out of 10 times when random/strange issues are unable to be reproduced in a similar environment with the same exact steps and data, the issue comes down to something like antivirus/firewall/permissions, etc.
