@Marc_Graham After discussing this with some other folks, I have some more information. Integrated mesh layers are currently designed to be always displayed on top of other content in the scene. All clients (ArcGIS Pro, Scene Viewer, JSAPI apps etc) use stencil buffering that allows the mesh to draw into another buffer and display it on top of the rest of the ground at the end of each frame. This is why the mesh is not occluded by other ground-based draped content. We do currently have on the ArcGIS Pro roadmap the ability to use Integrated Mesh layers as part of the Ground Elevation Surface which would ameliorate these effects. This is a major design change though that would have impact across the ArcGIS Platform and is not a trivial change that can be implemented quickly. There may be other smaller design changes we can make such as allowing you to turn of the stencil-buffering but we will explore this with other teams to determine the best outcome. Moving forward this idea is not getting traction in the ArcGIS Enterprise ideas so I will move this to the ArcGIS Pro ideas and keep you updated as new information arrives. thanks, Andrew

We have installed this functionality into ArcGIS Pro 3.2. There is now a Elevation context menu on raster and tin layers. Duplicate in Ground: Duplicates layer in the ground elevation surface layer Create Surface Layer from Sources: Creates a custom elevation surface layer and adds the selected layer to the custom surface (Note this option does not set the rasters elevation mode to the custom surface. You will still need to open up layer properties and select the surface). If you want that functionality see below. Additionally we have added the following usability enhancement. If you add the raster layer to the scene you can also open up the layer properties and select "On custom elevation surface". This will do the following in one click 1. Create the custom surface 2. Add the selected raster layer as a source to the custom surface 3. Set the elevation mode for the selected raster to the custom surface.

Hi, There is no out of the box property available but you can backdoor it by updating the CIM for the layer. Here's a sample that sets it to the geometry Z values. If you need to set it to a field just use $feature.fieldname instead of Shape.Z # Reference a project, map, and layer using arcpy.mp
p = arcpy.mp.ArcGISProject('current')
m = p.listMaps('Scene')[0]
l = m.listLayers('FewPoints')[0]
# Return the layer's CIM definition
l_cim = l.getDefinition('V2')
# Set the layer elevation to relative to ground based on Z values
l_cim.featureElevationExpression="Shape.Z"
#Push the changes back to the layer
l.setDefinition(l_cim)

Sorry, since it's a new feature there is no workaround per se. Sections cannot be exported in any format they are for visual analysis only. If anything changes for the next release i'll try and post back here to let you know. thanks, Andrew

Hi, Unfortunately we have not had a chance to work on this as getting voxel layers on the web was the higher priority. Currently, we are working on performance improvements so this is not in the near term plan. If you would prefer to keep track of this I would recommend submitting an ArcGIS Idea so I can keep you and others updated on when it's in the product plan and when it will be implemented. thanks, Andrew

The link Dan provided has the solution. If you run the Layer 3D to Feature Class tool on the multipatch with it's elevation mode set to the Ground, the Z values from the Ground Elevation Surface Layer will be carried over to the Z values of the output multipatch feature class. thanks, Andrew

@Marc_Graham ok thanks for clarifying. No need to create a new idea for the time being but i'll follow up with a couple teams to get an update on this. While of course we do always try to ensure a seamless experience across the clients, there are separate teams that have various priorities given user requirements. I'll see what I can find out and post back here. thanks for your time, Andrew

@Marc_Graham This idea is specific to the Scene Viewer in ArcGIS Enterprise but in your comment you mentioned ArcGIS Pro so I just want to clarify where you are targeting this idea if it's just Scene Viewer or also ArcGIS Pro. thanks, Andrew

Thanks for sharing the slpk. As I suspected this slpk is missing required textureSetDefinition properties from the layer description. Because the clip tool does not fix invalid slpks it does not write out the textures because they are not specified correctly. https://github.com/Esri/i3s-spec/blob/master/docs/1.7/textureSetDefinitionFormat.cmn.md Besides going back to Agisoft and having them fix the slpk the only other option is to use the Project tool. Since the Project tool does rewrite the entire slpk it does fix this issue. I was able to successfully reproject the slpk and then clip it. thanks, Andrew

We have seen this with certain slpks from Agisoft that are not adhering to the I3S Specification. If you are able to send the clipped slpk I can take a look. thanks, Andrew

Hi, Nobody sent their projects or updated the thread if they reached out to technical support. This issue is specific to something in a particular project or group of projects so I would recommend reaching out to technical support so they can diagnose the cause of the problem and jump on a screenshare with you as necessary. https://support.esri.com/en/ thanks, Andrew

Hi, You can set the multipatch elevation setting to "On the Ground" from the layer properties elevation page and then run the Layer 3D To Feature Class tool and the output will burn the Z values from the DTM into the multipatch (assuming the DTM has been added as an elevation source to the Ground elevation surface layer). thanks, Andrew
