Hi Stephen I did download and install the Diversity Tool and I did get it to successfully run in Pro 2.5. It is a nice tool. Some advice to running this script. Make sure that the map projection is the same as the raster projection. The first time I ran this tool it failed because of this. Zoom in to a smaller area at first to just test the script. Set your extent in the Environments setting. If it works, then expand to your area of interest. Good luck. Mervyn

I have not used the Diversity Tool but I did note a problem with the output raster path file name ("K6_06.04.202\Default"). In the output path file name, you should in general not include any spaces or non-text characters, such as % or @. A hyphen may be interpreted as a minus. You have used a full stop in the path file name which could be misinterpreted by any script such as Diversity Tool. Best to try and use a short file path with text only characters.

While trying to pack in a lot of data into a MMPK, I made use of Display Filters, Scale-based sizing, and Scale-ranges with Alternative symbols to great an efficient map for viewing all this data. It made sense to develop a smart and efficient multi-scale map for use in MMPKs that are loaded into Explorer for ArcGIS because of the less powerful hardware that must run these MMPKs on small screens. They also provide for a better user experience. However after developing these, I discovered that Display Filters, Scale-based sizing and Alternative symbols do not work in MMPKs. Only Scale-ranges work. The former also do not work in web maps in AGOL. Is this functionality on your Roadmap for implementation within the ArcGIS Runtime and Explorer for ArcGIS?

If you are consuming a hosted feature feature layer, then first make sure it is Sync enabled in AGOL. Then have you used the Download Map functionality from the Map tab to first take the features offline before packaging?

Hi Tim You need to add the TPK to your map in ArcGIS Pro before creating the mobile package. So the output of the MMPK will include your TPK and any other layers in the map. It is best to ensure that the projection of the map matches that of the TPK before packaging.

I frequently need to compare two or more landcover data sets to show change over time. Nothing does this quite so well as a Sankey diagram, not that I have ever been able to create one. It would be a great charting enhancement. It does not only work well for comparing landcover, but there are a host of other applications for it across multiple disciplines (financial, socioeconomic, engineering, etc). Pro has a fantastic set of charting functions and i am hoping that this can also be implemented. I include below n example of a Sankey diagram.

It would be really helpful if there is a button or option that will ensure that Explorer for ArcGIS remains active and the screen does not dim or go to sleep. I often find that I am travelling with the device on, and plugged into a car charger, and it allows me to navigate/orient myself with various map content, or finding features. However the screen may go to sleep and then I have to try and unlock the device before map shows the map again. This can be dangerous when your eyes are off the road for too long. I also found in areas with weak connectivity that I dreaded the device going to sleep as I was not guaranteed of having the same content visible once the device was activated again. Having an option that will force the app to stay active and not go to sleep will really help.

Hi Drew Yes indeed, it was Processing Extent ... and I realise now that this question related to Calculate Geometry, which would not be impacted by extent limits. My error.

Just to add that I have also experienced this before when making changes to environment settings under Analysis > Environments that then results in the outputs of the GP tool falling outside of the Environments settings.

It happened to me the other day after creating a shapefile from the same GP tool. As a workaround, make a copy of your shapefile then delete the .sbx and .sbn files (these are optional files and shapefiles load faster with them). It should work thereafter.

Can you please tell me what do you mean by "Use raster and mosaic layers directly in your mobile map packages without creating tile packages", when referring to the new functionality? I thought it would refer to mosaic datasets, and if I search for "mosaic layer" then I get to Mosaic layer—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation or Make Mosaic Layer—Data Management toolbox | Documentation, supporting my interpretation. But I tried that and it failed, and according to Brent Pierce mosaic datasets are not supported within MMPKs (do see https://community.esri.com/message/913909-re-can-one-include-a-mosaic-dataset-into-a-mobile-map-package?commentID=913909… ). Was this a typo or something else that is being referred to? Please help.

Hi Brent Thank you for the feedback. I now understand how it works. I like the new functionality, such as the ability to automatically open Google Maps or Navigator to get directions to a point on the map. Pop-ups with attachments work great. I am grateful I can now load large MMPKs onto my SD card. I had one more question that related to the use of "mosaics" in the MMPKs. I posted the question here Can one include a mosaic dataset into a mobile map package, but perhaps you can assist? Much appreciated. Mervyn

Update. So it seems that Explorer for ArcGIS does not make use of the default folder "ArcGIS/mmpks" on a mobile device that several of the other Esri apps use (like AuGeo, Navigator, Survey123, Trek2There). This caught me as I was sure that if I placed my mmpk there, it would show on my phone. I reverted to checking my Explorer for ArcGIS app permissions and discovered that only location was enabled, not storage. (i was not prompted to enable storage when I installed the app). I then manually provided the necessary permissions but this did not seem to make any difference. Explorer for ArcGIS would simply not read any MMPKS placed in that folder. I then reverted back to the installation files created when Explorer was installed and found that it created two similar folders, one on my SD card and the other on the phone memory. Any MMPK or basemap (like VTPK) can be placed in either folder and Explorer will read it. So I have a less efficient workaround, but it works and does result in the duplication of some MMPKs. So to answer the second part of my question (how to copy basemaps to the device?) , if the basemap is placed in the SD card\Android\data\com.esri.explorer\files\basemaps folder, it will appear as a separate tab when changing a map's basemap. This is the same experience as in Collector. Somehow I still suspect that my mobile device should have access to other folders and thus also the ArcGIS/mpks folder. Perhaps that is why I cant find any functionality to import MMPKS from a SD card? This still eludes me ... Is the above workflow by design and one cant access the ArcGIS/mmpks folder (or what went wrong with my installation)? Is this the workflow to load MMPKs from SD card that was reported in the "What's new"? Can this (or future) version of Explorer not import MMPKs from SD card, similar to how the Windows version imports MMPKS from any location? I think that is what I was looking for. But still, it is a great app and nice to see the improvements. Thank you.

Hi there I have just installed the latest version of Explorer for ArcGIS (20.1.0) on my Android device and I noticed that under "What's New" one can now "Load mobile map packages from an SD card". How does one do that? I could not find any means of doing so. Am I missing something? I also noticed that one can now copy basemaps to your device. Again, how would one do so? I do not see a Basemaps folder under the "ArcGIS" folder on the phone (where I would have expected it). I did take a quick look through the help documentation but I could not find any info on either of the above. Thank you.
