Since you've confirmed it is working correctly in the beta, it will be fixed when the release that is currently in beta goes live. We are targetting the end of the year for that release. If you'd like to, you can log a bug about this with support; however, it is still most likely to be fixed in the release I mentioned above.

There are various cases where you'll see the message about "no collectable layers are visible" -- I've locked this thread as the original issue was resolved. Please start a new thread with details about your map and layers if you are seeing this issue, and it can be investigated there.

Unfortunately, it sounds like there could be a bug with your particular layer in the released app. Since it is fixed in the beta version of the app, getting a fix for it will come with that release. Since it works intermittently, the workaround would be to reopen the layer tool (I think from what you've said here that you just see different behavior in that tool -- if that isn't the case, the workaround would be to do whatever you are doing now where you sometimes see the behavior and sometimes don't).

It is good to know that it is resolved in the beta -- that is our development focus right now, so it would be where you would have seen a fix, too.

Hi Mark - Did you check if you have the same issue as the original poster? When you add the feature class to the web map, are you using the service URL with the layer's index ("/0" or "/1" etc for the particular layer)? If you have already made sure of that, could you clarify for me a bit: - When you say you can edit in the web map, do you mean using Map Viewer in ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise? - When you say you can see the layer in the collector map but not tick the layer on, do you mean you can see it in the layers list (although not in the map) but that its visibility is turned off and can't be turned on?

Could you give some more information here? When you say it appears differently sometimes, is that using the same web map, and just tapping the tool multiple times? Is it the same layer, but in different maps? Thanks!

Hi! Great question - let me explain how we came to that design. The sharing of a map is done by the owner of the map. Some owners share with the org as a whole, to make sure those who need their map can get to it. But often, it's not the whole org that needs a map. For Collector, the mobile workers in the field have a particular task to accomplish and use a specific set of maps to do so. And one org may have multiple groups of mobile workers with different, distinct tasks and maps. That makes for potentially a lot of maps that need to show up in Collector (and can't be excluded from it) but aren't needed by all members of the org. Also, since Collector is a mobile app, we want to keep it easy for the mobile worker to find the maps they need without having a lot that doesn't apply to them. So we limit it to maps that are targetting the particular signed-in mobile worker Think of it like going through your email: there is a lot there. Some messages are sent directly to you. Some are for a mailing list you want to be in (like Groups in ArcGIS). And some is sent out by lists that got your email, so is somewhat applicable to you, but you might not want to get messages from (like org shared maps). Now, in my email, I can delete what I don't want to see, or block senders. But mobile workers in Collector see the maps that are put there for them, so as part of the app design we aimed to keep that as relevant to the individual as possible. Now, if you find that this isn't ideal for you and your organization, could you share why you want to be able to share with the org and have those maps included in Collector? Thanks!

Hi Molly - What platform (Android, iOS, or Windows) are you using, and what version of Collector? I just checked, and in both Collector Classic and Collector on iOS if I open a map that is authored to display, but not be editable, that is honored in each app. The fields show in the pop-up when viewing it, but once editing, they aren't included and can't be changed.

Using preplanned map areas is not supported in the released version of Collector on Android. It is supported in the released version on iOS, and is in beta on Android. Sure Anjul! No problem. In the beta version of Collector on Android, you can open maps (with editable layers) just like you can in the released Android app. So make a map that uses your vector tile layer as a basemap, add some editable data, and open the map in Collector. If you need to get the beta version of Collector on Android, join the Collector Early Adopter community. There, you'll have the latest information on what you can test and be able to provide feedback in the forum. Once you’ve joined, visit "Getting Started" to access available beta releases.

Yes, sorry if that link wasn't working right! It should have taken you to the section "Reference an on-device basemap" which has the info of how to set a TPK to use during download. Ha I hear you! It's always when we finally clean something up or get rid of it that we find we need it. Let me know how it goes once the device is ready for you to test it.

Hi Adrian -- Yes, you can now specify a sideloaded basemap to use during download. See Prepare for offline data collection—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS for details.

The issue raised by the initial poster was fixed in an update to ArcGIS Online at the start of July. A summary of the issue: > The issue is specific to feature services with subtypes and one or more date fields (this includes editor tracking fields) when attempting to work offline. This impacts all released versions of Collector, though the error messages may differ slightly. This thread is locked for additional comments since the issue reported is now fixed. If you are still seeing issues, please create a new thread with details of the map not working for you and we can dig in and help.
