Did that. There are many commands, each one takes more time. All that does not explain why similar network (in term of bound rate) behave complitly different. Mody

We would like to put our license manager on virtual machine. Esri does not officially support virtual machine for license manager but it does work in many places. We would like to know what will happen if we take the virtual machine from hardware server A and put it on hardware server B. Will the license work? Do we have to do any setting on the virtual machine that will enable such operation? The big advantage of virtual machine is that they do not depend on hardware but the license manager does depend on the hardware. Thanks

We use a 2Mb network to access ArcMap 10.2.2 to ArcSDE on SqlServer with direct connect. In the simulation we set our office network to this bound rate. The performance was reasonable, about 3-4 second to open the onnection, same to load a layer. Pan/zoom was slow but not too much. We check the simulation bound rate with transferring files and it was really 2Mb. Then we have a cellular network (with net stick). It gives us the SAME bound rate (transfer a file takes the same. Open Studio management on the client that connects the database is a little slow but not too much. Opening a connection to the database takes 40 seconds. Load a layer about 35-40 seconds too and pan/zoom is almost impossible. It has the same bound rate and other clients (file transfer, studio) works the same as the simulation. Anybody have an idea why? Thanks

We have a map service with many static layers, they do not update very frequently. We can not cache it since we need the option to turn each layer on/off separately. Currently the data is in local FGDB. I wonder if compressing this FGDB will make it better. It does make it better for desktop. Anybody have any experience with it? Thanks

As far as I understand ref mosaic can be subset of one mosaic but cannot append two mosaics. The correct way to append mosaics is to use the AddRaster with the Table option. This will copy the pootprint polygons from all the mosaics to one mosiac (include overviews polygons). This option is even quicker then AddRasters of simple rasters (no need to find the raster extent). Check the Derived mosaic in this help : Imagery: Data management patterns and recommendations—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop Have fun

Hi Dan The AddRasters command is very quick. 1000 rasters should be addd in up to 3 minutes. Why is it taking so much time? Is your disk access so slow? This might be part of the problem.
