Hi Phil, I tried this out, but can't get the second geopoint to automatically populate. I must hit the GPS target to acquire the location on the second geopoint... I have attached my XLSX for your review. Thanks, Larry

I there a way to trigger a geopoint location to be collected when opening a survey from the Inbox? This would be similar to how a geopoint gets collected on a new survey. I have a case where I need to know where the Inbox survey was filled out. The Inbox is prepopulated with a location where the feature to survey is located, to help navigate to the location, but I also need to verify the survey was completed near the location. Thanks, Larry

Hi Phil, I have emailed you the xlsx form with the issue and my work around, which was removing the "repeat_count" setting for the repeat. Thanks, Larry

Hi Phil, I have a survey exhibiting this issue in 3.9... I have a question in the main survey asking how many piles are being installed, the create a limit on the repeat to the number of piles... If saved as a draft or outbox part way through, when reopened, any data entered in not saved or sent to the server... I also have a constraint within the repeat that that checks the pile number is not larger than the number of piles being installed... I tested removing the constraint, still have the issue... Thanks, Larry

UPDATE: It is the dash in the Name of the image that causes the Feature Report engine to crash... ${FullTowerFace2-3 } with the dash in it causes the error initially submitted. I recreated the survey with ${FullTowerFace23 } and everything started to work... This is a bug in the Feature Report functionality.

I am getting a feature report error from the default generated report template... Error occurred when checking the report template. Failed to parse ${FullTowerFace2-3 | size:460:0}. Field ${FullTowerFace2-3 } does not exist or cannot be found in current parsing scope. The field is an image type an appears to be fine in the Survey123 Data Viewer tool, but loading the generated template crashes... Thanks, Larry

Hi All, I am having an issue republishing a survey the a data type change in the feature service. I sure this worked smoother in the past, but this is what I hit over the last few days...#survey123forarcgisconnect Background: Published Survey from Connect 3.3.51 on Win 7. Inbox survey but collected initially as a new survey. Shared for Viewing to another group in my organization Change Required: Integer to Decimal Process: Changed an “bind::esri:fieldType” from esriFieldTypeInteger to esriFieldTypeDouble Accepted the Warning and Published… Publishing hung at this screen (hit red X to kill after a while): Duplicate Feature Layer created, but not shared. Accepted the Warning and Published again… Publishing completed successfully. A third duplicate Feature Layer created, but not shared. Data collected by survey owner goes into top unshared service. Data collected by survey user hangs on send. Have to kill Survey123 3.5.177 on IOS. Share top Feature Layer with Group again. Send Survey from Outbox successfully. 2 surveys show in Survey123 Web Data for owner. 0 records show in Survey123 Web Data for user. As owner unshare Viewer rights for user group. As owner reshare Viewer rights for user group. 2 records show in Survey123 Web Data for user. Manually Delete 2 extra Feature Layers. Error: Some items were not deleted because they are delete protected or have dependent items. Delete Stakeholder view. Delete bottom Feature Service As owner reshare Viewer rights for user group. All seems good again… I am sure I have republished surveys with no problems in the past... Larry

I don't get the attachment icon at all when using an offline map. If I remove the offline map, and open it online the attachments work fine. I am on a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active2 SM-T397U running Android 8.1.0

Hi James, Thanks for the answer, I had been hoping to use the same survey for both… I have it almost working. I have another post about retrieving the current username after opening an Inbox survey that may help me with a single survey approach using specifically defined usernames… Thanks, Larry

Hi All, I have created a basic survey that collects a few values. I have a username question in the survey to record who is entering the data. Inbox is enabled so that I can go and QA/update the data as required. I want to read the username of the person who opened the survey from the inbox, I have tried property(username') to get it, but it returns the original submitter name. Not sure what else there is? Thanks, Larry

Hi All, I have a survey that gets filled out in the field, then submitted (Collect). I also have Inbox enabled so that QA users can open the surveys previously submitted. My issue is that if the survey is opened from the Inbox, I want to make the QA section of the survey relevant, if the survey is through Collect the QA should not display. If there is someway to detect that a survey is from Collect mode or Inbox? I have tried pulling in CreationDate and ObjectID from the hosted feature service to see if they exist, but I always get blank values. I assume these are can'y be pulled into a survey using Inbox? Thanks, Larry

Hi All, I have a survey created with Connect to capture Right of Way clearing activities. Most of the time this will be done in the field using a mobile device, there are times when the survey will be filled out and or approved using the web form. Currently the signature image appearance does not allow any sketching. This is a required item, so I can't save a survey through the web interface. I have tried both in Chrome 72.0.3626.121 and Internet Explorer 11.0.110. Thanks, Larry

Hi Survey123ers, I don't think this is there yet, but I would like to have the functionality to create a question that is answered by hitting a button to retrieve the attribute from the closest feature that the question has been configured for. Here is my real world example: I am out in the field inspecting transmission towers. I would like to retrieve data using pulldata on the tower that I am closest to. This could be a simple question that I hit a button on to retrieve the closest tower, then I can use pulldata to populate my other answers. I have done this using collector in the past, where the user launches the survey from Collector using the URL scheme to open the correct tower for inspection, but the maintenance of a Collector configuration is overkill for something quite simple. I have also used Inbox to take data out to the field, and the Survey123 Map to get to the correct tower and fill out the survey, but the limitation/workaround to collect photos on an Inbox survey is a bit cumbersome in backend data processing. This could be a new appearance on a text control that places an icon button next to the text box for getting the value based on your current location. Then using the calculate or default to go get the value from a simple configuration similar to an external CSV with lat/long and the feature value to return. The trick may be that in out network we have 20,000 towers and would it work on that size of external dataset. If not, the towers could be split into regions to get the datasets to a more manageable size. Thanks, Larry

Hi Mat, Yes, Collector will take photos out to the field in disconnected mode. You need to have the photos as attachments in your feature service. The feature service also needs to have “sync” capabilities enabled. It can be tricky to get going, but once up and running is quite stable. Larry
