As I understand this, findAndReplaceWorkspacePaths should be able to do what you are asking for.  This is from the help found at: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#//00s30000004p000000 "In this scenario, a user wants to remove the password information saved within a map document. The data sources in the map document came from an SDE connection file where the password information was saved with the connection information. With UpdateLayer, are you using False for the symbology_only parameter?  It defaults to True, so the label properties will only come across if you specify it as False. For example:  arcpy.mapping.UpdateLayer(df, updateLayer, sourceLayer, False) Keep in mind this will bring all layers properties including symbology, font, font size, label expression, etc., so everything will need to be defined in the update .lyr file. Hi Victor, If you enable Data Driven Pages and select your grid Index as your index layer, it will make a map book of your 792 squares. If you remove the emptyStr = " " from your dynamic text string, does it display the default [empty] on the page?  Can you verify that the field is empty and doesn�??t have spaces in it or anything? Thanks, David ... View more

I�??m not sure why this is not working for you. I tried creating a brand new index layer and added the PageNam attribute and then used the Calculate Adjacent Fields tool to add the adjoining attributes for PageNam_N, PageNam_S, PageNam_E and PageNam_W. Then just copied the text string directly from your forum post here, and the emptyStr is working for me.  I tried this with version 10.0 SP3 and a 10.1 Beta 2.  Is the attribute �??PageNam_S�?� correct?  That is the only thing I can�??t check. At version 10.1 the pop up box to enter a title will be back. This box automatically populates the title in the Map Document Properties that then works in conjunction with the title dynamic text.  10.1 Beta 2 is available with this functionality now.  If you go to http://betacommunity.esri.com/home.html and join the beta program you can download it and try it out. ... Hi Christopher, You can use dynamic text that references a field in the index layer.  At 10.0 there is not a way to do this from the Insert menu.
