I have upgrade ArcGIS Enterprise form 10.5 to 10.5.1 following the established steps in the documentation (Upgrade Portal for ArcGIS—Portal for ArcGIS (10.5.x) | ArcGIS Enterprise). However, after upgrading the data store, I am unable to validate the server and in the server administrator, the tile cache data store is validated, but not the managed database (i.e. relational). In Portal when I go to Org > Edit Setting > Servers, the hosting server does not validate and I get this error: ArcGIS Server administration URL 'https://lib-gis-server.library.illinois.edu/arcgis' is accessible. Validating hosting server. ArcGIS Server 'https://lib-gis-server.library.illinois.edu/arcgis' version matches with Portal for ArcGIS. Error: Failed to validate the server managed database '/enterpriseDatabases/AGSDataStore_ds_qcne02dh'. I have investigated logs on the windows server machine and the PostgreSQL gets a rapid shutdown command and provides no error codes (the code ID is '0' severity error). What is also weird, though, is that all feature, image, and scene services currently seem to be working properly. NOTE: We have also recently updated our licensing and this could be an issue. We are actively investigating that, but we are unsure at this time.

Mine is blank, but I have always had arcpy work in Spyder without issues, though I don't often run code in Spyder. I don't think the issue is with Spyder, I was just using it as an example because I was able to clearly see that the application was not updating in both ArcGIS Pro and the app itself. I think that fresh reinstall worked. I was having trouble with 'asteroid' updating yesterday, but before I finished writing this sentence, I tried to update it, and it worked. So everything seems normal now...Let's hope it continues that way. I will leave this question unanswered for now, though, just in case others have the issue and find another solution. But, a reinstall as explained in my post form August 17 solved the issue.

Thanks Dan. I tried doing what you suggested, and it didn't work. I verified that I do have full admin rights and that permissions should not be the issue. I decided to try updating via the command prompt and I received the following output below. I am not sure what it all means and I didn't have time to explore other solutions, so I uninstalled ArcGIS Pro, removed the Pro folder in Program Files\ArcGIS\, and then did a fresh install, which I haven't done since beta! That reset my Python packages back to default and I was able to install the new packages at the current versions and I was able to update one package that had an update. However, there is no another package that needs to be updated, and it won't update. I will restart and see if things get back to normal. When I am in the Python Package Manager > Update Packages, it says I have 11 packages that need updated after I hit refresh. When I click Update All, they all flash and nothing happens. When I try to update one-by-one, they act like they are updating (blue progress bar moves), the UI flashes, and the package name stays in the Update Packages list and the Installed Packages list contains the same version. In fact, when I look in the Installed Packages list, the packages needing updated ALL say they are at the same version listed in the Update Packages list. Why is this happening? I have been able to update on another computer, both of which I have admin rights, though I am pretty sure they are not full admin rights (work computers...). Could Active Directory rights or permissions be an issue or other security settings be an issue? I have tried running ArcGIS Pro as an admin, but no difference. Here is a troubleshooting example I tried: One package coming up in Updated Packages is 'spyder' version 3.1.4. I have tried updating it numerous times, but get the behavior described above. But when I run the Spyder application, it still gives me a notice that I am NOT running the most up to date version of 3.2.1. That version is not coming in as the updated version. So, I tried to Uninstall 'spyder', but it didn't uninstall...so that's another piece and I am stuck.

This was an issue on the enterprise login provider side and nothing to do with Portal for ArcGIS. My enterprise login manager was able to correct the issue and I am now able to login normally. I do not know what the issue was or how to fix it though. Thank goodness for people who know what they are doing!

Robert, Thanks for your reply. I am certain that my popup configuration is properly setup as the link works when the map is open in the AGO map viewer. I have provided a screenshot.

I have setup my popup to have a hyperlink to email addresses as described in Bern's blog: Sending email from web map pop-ups | ArcGIS Blog. It works just fine in the AGO web map. However, when I create an app with the Web AppBuilder, the popup does not bring in the email address, only 'mailto:' and the rest seems blank. Here is my app: Libraries for Peace Web Mapping Application. Click on a feature to see the popup and hover over 'Email' to see. I have tested it on multiple computers, and on Chrome and Firefox. Any ideas why this is not working properly? Is there possibly a bug? Thanks...

I was having issues with Pro crashing when trying to access a custom script tool and other tools in the Geoprocessing pane. This workaround corrected the issue as ArcGIS Pro is no longer crashing when I try to access the script tool. What was interesting, though, is that my Python3.dll file was dated May 15, 2017, but the issue only started presenting itself in the last few days.

Answered my own question... In ArcGIS Server Manager > Manage Services and navigate to the service. in the icon to the right, click on the person icon. This will prompt you to allow this service to be visible to Portal.

In ArcMap, I published a mosaic raster as an imagery service directly to an ArcGIS Server that is federated to Portal for ArcGIS. The published service was successful and I was able to see that the image service is working properly. However, my Portal did not automatically create an item in My Contents, as it is described here: Relationships between web services and portal items—ArcGIS Server Administration (Windows) | ArcGIS Enterprise. I did this a few weeks ago with another imagery service and the item was added automatically. What are the possible causes for this? Is there a way to add a single item in a more automated way besides adding it manually (Add items—Portal for ArcGIS (10.5) | ArcGIS Enterprise) or by adding all the services using the Importing services from a federated server—Portal for ArcGIS (10.5) | ArcGIS Enterprise? I have not tried either of these options yet. With the add all services method, though, I am worried that it will create duplicate items for those services. I would hope that I don't have to manually do this every time...

To clarify, it appears that some of the data is actually working, but not the Demographic Layers (BDS). The source location is correct, but the red exclamation point is visible and the layers will not draw. Additionally, in the Preferences window, Dataset tab, none of the Data Component Locations are available and I cannot add them. I was able to add the Address locator and Streets Network, but it looks like I will need to do this every time. I'm also running ArcGIS Desktop 10.5.

I have three machines that can run Business Analyst Desktop, but I don't want to store the Business Analyst data locally on each machine and instead would like to store the data once as read-only on a file server that each machine can communicate to. The documentation seems to indicate that this can be done: Installing Esri Business Analyst 2016 data—Business Analyst Desktop | ArcGIS (see Step 7: Custom). I installed the data directly on the file-server instead of through the desktop machine due to how we have permissions setup. Everything indicated it was installed and licensed properly. Thanks.
