For the server question, we have a sample showing off schematics on the web with interaction from a geographic service for Silverlight and for JavaScript. We don't plan on creating a sample for Flex. However, it is just a sample and schematics is just a service, so you could follow the logic in the JavaScript or Silverlight sample and do the same thing in Flex. For the sample Isometric Tools, It has been a long time since I messed with them. No doc, but I believe there is an addin toolbar with the various alignment tools you need to get to Isometric. You can get that sample code from our ftp site at: https://mft.esri.com Username: PMGSchemaint Password: 2013Schemaint

What version of software are you working with? We have some isometric tools as a sample, but only work on 10.1 I believe.

Difficult to answer without a version number as things have changed a bit. Anyway, on the schematic side with 10.x, you can do the following: 1. In Catalog, right click the schematic dataset in the database 2. Click Show/Hide Schematic Classes 3. For each ???link??? (edge) schematic class, right-click and choose Properties 4. Click the Indexes tab and click the Delete button at bottom 5. Click Apply

You probably just need to 'fix' your schematic dataset definitions so it includes this new class (import feature class), then in the map, you need to select the new features and run the Update > Append on the diagram. This leaves all existing schematic features in the last saved locations, but brings in the newly appended items in their correct geographic positions. Then just edit those new features as desired. On our resource center, you will find serveral videos that would probably be worth your time to watch and understand. It sounds like you probably are using a geometric network, so watch these 2 at least: 1. Create and Edit a Schematic Dataset 2. Configuring the Standard Builder

That is an older article. We have added a builder specifically for network datasets since then. You should probably have a quick look at this quick start information: Quick Start and the video called Configuring the Network Dataset Builder found in the video series See if those help.

There isn't a schematic server at 9.x. Schematics server came about in 10.1.

Correct language from the resource topic: To work through the ArcGIS for Desktop tutorials, you need to install the tutorial data from the ArcGIS for Desktop Tutorial Data setup, which is part of the ArcGIS for Desktop installation download or media. If the tutorial data has been installed on your system, look for it in C:\arcgis\ArcTutor (the default installation location). In many cases, you will need write access to that location to perform the tutorial.

It isn't on the resource center. You need to install from ArcTutor, which should be part of your ArcGIS package. When you run that installation, just expand the Extensions section and turn on Schematics.

Great! It will go much easier with a Geometric Network. At that same link above, you would want to view the Configuring the Standard Builder video. On the main schematics community page, there is also a link to the Quick Start for Utilities which show the absolute basic 9 steps to go from a geometric network to generating diagrams.

You don't have to have a geometric network. However...if you don't, then you need explicit attributes on the links that indicate the connectivity (From and To). Implementation wise, you can handle this through some custom development that we call our XML Builder or if it is pretty straight forward to query out the 78 different diagram records + connectivity info, you can use what we call Custom Query Builder. Probably the best place to start learning more is in our video series. That is built to learn in a particular order, but the main items of interest for this discussion are the Configuring the XML Builder and the Configuring for Custom Queries videos.

Schematics is essentially storing a layer file per class in an internal blob field. When a diagram is opened or created, the layer file is re-applied on the fly which picks up both symbology and labeling settings. This allows us to have a 'default' but also allows a user to save their own layer file and apply it very easily. For customers that have to give maps(diagrams) to contractors etc... who have different symbology and labeling requirements, this makes it a very simple operation. So you could do something similar but you will have to work with the API to do it.

No idea. How are you doing this export? Are you using the GP tool from the schematic tools for Export to Features? If not, that is the one you should be using.

Thao, It should be far simpler with the network dataset actually... You just need to create route solvers for your bus route (or bus routes as multiple buses can be in one solver). Then you generate your diagram from the solvers, not from selecting feature in the actual network dataset. That is demonstrated in the video for configuring for network datasets. I would like to understand more if that is not doing what you need it to do though as it should handle it fine without you having to create a geometric network. Let me know how it goes. We have had one of our distributors in Europe get standard linear referencing to work directly on the diagram, but he wrote some custom tools to force in the m values and make it all work. It also only works if there are no Node Reduction rules happening in the schematics configuration. If you are not using rules and are a developer type, I can get you that code to take a look at. If rules are in play, then using NodeOnLink and SubLink is the only way because schematics manages the simplified features.
