Thomas, sorry, I think my original comment from yesterday was off track. That has to do with writing the gp operations to the metadata, not whether/how metadata is taken from the source and stored in the output. Take a look at my comment with screenshots on Pro: Retain map layer metadata when changing data source The functionality coming in 2.1 will could potentially help with this scenario, if you want to copy source metadata to the layer. I quickly checked the behavior in ArcMap - even when I have some metadata in the layer when I run Clip like suggested in this idea's description and look at the output layer (not data source) it is blank. But the metadata from the data source is carried through into the output feature class' data source. In ArcGIS Pro 2.0.1 (current release) we see the exact same behavior. Given that, can you please clarify the original idea and description to detail out what the expectation is? Thank you!

Thomas. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. The development team has logged it as an issue to be fixed. It won't make the 2.1 release but hopefully in a dot dot release if there is something before 2.2.

Try this for online: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=c1c2090ed8594e0193194b750d0d5f83 Currently, no way to do this in Pro. It would be worth logging an enhancement or equivalency issue with technical support.

Just a clarification for others who might stumble across this thread. Edits cannot be undone on an unversioned feature service (so those using ArcGIS Online hosted feature services for example couldn't undo edits). But we show that in a message in the Editing view of the contents pane: Does that count as telling you twice? Message: Edits made to this layer cannot be undone—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop We do have an enhancement request logged for this and I'm sure the feature service team has this on their roadmap.

Jeff, Individual edit operations are shown in the Undo stack - a handy tip is to first show just the Editing group: If I switch over to the Editing view in the Contents pane, I can quick control which layers I want to be editable:

What happens if you go to project Options > Geoprocessing and check on Write geoprocessing operations to log file and dataset metadata? 2.0.1 It looks like that gets a little redesign for 2.1, with Logging split out and writing metadata as default:

Jeff, Is this mainly about Web AppBuilder, ArcGIS Online, or Pro? You mention that Pro " makes inadvertent moving and resizing of polys and lines all too easy" When you start to edit a polygon in Pro, you are presented with options in the Modify Features Pane: What edit tool are you using? I'm assuming not Move or Scale since the issue is that you don't want to inadvertently move or resize the polygon.

Eric, this functionality doesn't currently exist in ArcGIS Pro. I'd encourage you to submit a new idea at https://community.esri.com/community/arcgis-ideas?sr=search&searchId=0e27334b-f6f4-4928-8e35-626683f3f0ab&searchIndex=0 noting this as an equivalency issue between Pro and ArcMap. Just because an idea doesn't exist doesn't mean we aren't tracking this as an equivalency issue - we're aware of it. But having the idea out there for the user community to vote and comment on in terms of how the use the functionality certainly helps us. Cheers

Sorry, Brian. I didn't mean to insinuate that this would get around the bug. No getting around that until it is fixed. You can use the GP tool if that is the workaround to the bug, but as I said in my comment "You're right, you can't add the gp tool to the QAT."

You're right, you can't add the gp tool to the QAT. But you can add the Add Field from the Table > View ribbon.

Have you tried and not been able to add it to the QAT? Not sure there is a built-in limit, but there may be a practical limit (like how many icons actually fit across your screen). You might find this interesting: ArcGIS Pro: Ribbons, Toolbars, and UI Hacks | ArcGIS Blog
