Thanks, I'm aware of various links and posts regarding functionality difference between the 2 viewers, I'm just concerned with what happens to individual users' own map viewer preference settings and if that changes at the same time.

Our ArcGIS Online org's "Primary map viewer" setting is currently "Map Viewer Classic" but I've given our ~450 org users advance notice we'd like to change in in Jan 2023 to "Map Viewer". As our org admin, I'd like to understand more about what happens when we make that org-wide change. Once the change is made, does that mean that org members' "Primary map viewer" option in their own account settings will also default to "Map Viewer" at that time and they'll need to set it to "Map Viewer Classic" if they want that instead as their own default, or will their account setting stay at whatever option they've previously specified prior to the change? i.e. I'm trying to better understand the impact from the change and how some of our web map/app developers may need to advise their own specific app users about whether they'll need to change their account settings. Thanks.

Thanks for the info, welcome cards for new users makes sense, but please do not make the welcome card post in a Teams channel that already has hundreds of members as it is spammy, just send the welcome card to the new user in a private chat message perhaps?

It appears to be an official product but doesn't seem to have official Esri case support analysts for it, thus they told me to post here so perhaps other Esri staff knowledgeable with similar apps (SharePoint, etc.) can help..

Our IT staff recently installed ArcGIS for Teams in our org's Teams environment. However, it (ArcGIS Maps user) keeps posting welcome reminders about its existence in our GIS Team's General channel over and over, sometimes many posts per day (see attached example). Are there any settings or controls to stop these reminders? I'm trying to find out info so I can advise our IT staff. I opened an Esri case about this, but apparently there's no official support for the product so they referred me to post here hoping Esri staff or others may reply? Thanks for any help.

Under "What is causing the crash" it says "only affects ArcGIS Pro 2.8.x and 2.9.x users who have the Microsoft cumulative updates applied on their machine" but does that mean any cumulative updates related to .NET 4.8.x framework, or only the ones listed further down in this article? Thanks

Help! I'm trying to figure out how to access secure ArcGIS services via REST endpoints from within a 3rd party app called LandVision. Our org has secure services in ArcGIS Server (protected by a secure service folder) and also in ArcGIS Online (shared to org-only) and am trying to follow the LandVision instructions (attached screen capture) that mentions terms "Client ID" and "Client Secret" when connecting to secure services, but I've tried using a username set up in the ArcGIS Server Identity Store (and it works to access the REST endpoint in a web browser), but doesn't work for the LandVision connection to it. And I've tried using a username/password in our AGOL org to connect to an org-only AGOL service, but LandVision also doesn't recognize it. I'm not too familiar with different authentication methods, but I see the term "Client Secret" used in some of the ArcGIS Developer documentation.. do I need to create a token for the service and use a special REST URL with the token applied to it? I've contacted the LandVision folks and they don't know how to advise me. Thanks for any leads or help.

Hi David, the question is what does the permission "Allow member to update and categorize content within your organization" actually mean? Will that allow an account within our org to edit the contents and styling of a StoryMap or Dashboard owned by another account within our org?

Our web editor needs an account and power to review/edit our org's AGOL content (StoryMaps, Dashboards, etc.) but should NOT have the power to admin our AGOL org's settings, accounts, etc.. Is it possible to make this happen through a custom role? I found this thread from almost 6 years ago which seemed to imply no, but wondering if things are different now.. there's some settings when creating a custom role that sound like they may do that, such as the Content - Update option that will "allow member to update and categorize content within your organization" - will that work? It would be nice to not have to trial and error with test accounts to figure this out. Thanks for any help!

Hi, our organization does a lot of work in remote disconnected areas so our staff need to take AGOL layers offline in Field Maps, which requires us to "Enable Sync" on those feature layers. Is there any reason we shouldn't Enable Sync on all our feature layers to make them all offline compatible, or is there some performance reason to not Enable Sync on some layers? Also, is there any way for end users (who aren't admins or owners of a layer) to easily see if a layer is offline compatible, i.e. it doesn't seem like they can tell.. so we're thinking of adding metadata tags like "offline-enabled" to make such layers discoverable.. any other thoughts or ways to handle this? Thanks.

Many users in our organization are getting this error often now with various install versions of ArcGIS Pro in a Windows 10 environment. One of our users has traced the problem to ArcGIS Pro's indexing service and disabling it seems to fix the problem (see his findings quoted below). The instructions for disabling it are described on this page about two-thirds of the way down (also see attached graphic). Disabling it seems to have solved the problem for my Pro 2.9.2 install where I had been getting the popup often. It's unclear if this is an optimal option as folks with larger projects could benefit from indexing, and unclear if just unchecking the "Update the index periodically" provides the same solution while retaining some index benefit, but at least the popup is stopped for now. Esri staff - any insight on if this is the best solution to this problem? Indexing findings from one of our users "I got the ExcelToSQLite pop-up, opened Task Manager, and watched the CPU usage of that service for a couple minutes. It hovered between 0 and 0.5%. As soon as I closed the pop-up, the CPU usage of the service jumped up over 8%. It then jumped around between 7% and 28%. About a half hour later, I got the ExcelToSQLite pop-up again, and observed the exact same behavior. As soon as the pop-up is closed, the CPU usage of the service takes off"

When a Partnered Collaboration (PC) is established, does it allow ANYONE in an org to share to the PC? This seems to be the case when I tested it some months back. Our org has many inter-org projects going on where particular users need to collaborate with another org, however, we only want the collaboration to be between particular org users and NOT the entire organization - in my tests, it seems that once an PC is established it allows ANY of our org members to start sharing to the PC'd org - is that true? If so, it seems PC's need to be established as a high-level agreement for potentially any type of sharing between the orgs and not just for a particular project. Currently, we have one project where a handful of members from our org and another org need a shared update group to collaborate on a StoryMap, but it does not seem possible to create a shared update group unless the other org is in a PC, which we don't want per the reasoning above. Any insight on this situation would be greatly appreciated!

With Tracker and Field Maps in ArcGIS Online, is it possible to track users from multiple organizations in the same track view? We're currently using it successfully for mobile users in our org, but we have partners in other orgs we want to add to the track view to track their locations also.. didn't seem like there was a way to do this, but appreciate any insight if there's some approach I'm missing or at least if someone can confirm if it is possible. Thanks.
