It was an issue with Nulls existing in the subtype field. Once they were calculated to anything the domains picked up.

Exporting and reimporting causes more issues than it fixes. .shp do not hold null values, relationships break and upon re-importation domains automatically duplicate themselves (? same domain with a _1 suffix) Question still open.

Exporting the featureclass to a .shp and re-importing it back into the gdb fixed the issue. Not sure what caused it.

I have a table with coded values as a domain. In this instance the value of "4" corresponds to "Native". It is only showing for some of the values of the attribute. When I am editing, selecting one such as "crushed gravel" will provide me with a dropdown. Selecting and editing the "4" will only allow integer input, but will not change to reflect the domain when saved. If queried with the Identify tool, the values show as they are intended, domain not raw value. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks, I saw this referred to when doing a background investigation but was under the impression it was only in 10.2 and we are still on 10.1. The doc you sent says it is available, I will have to look into it further.

I am publishing a web service with a point featureclass that has many attributes that I would like auto-populated from other layers when a new point is dropped. Work flow: User creates a new point, attributes such as lat/lon, slope, aspect... are filled in. I know I can write a script to do this with selections or intersects after all the points are in, but I would like for it to show during the editing session. Is this possible? Thanks.

I have a .shp containing 31polygons with a date attribute identified by 28 unique (4 digit, string) numbers. Three of the numbers have two polygons, I would like to select the younger of the two and delete the older. Any suggestions? I have used the collections.Counter to identify the duplicated numbers. I understand search and update cursors and am thinking I can use one to find the FID, but am not sure how to build a query that says if the numbers are duplicated choose the largest (newer) date. Thanks

So setting the parameters as constants would work even thought the .exe will be looking for them to be defined? Ideally the code would break down like this: set parameters (except name of featureclass) as constants start iteration within folder on featureclasses Run exe with new name but same parameters. Save to different folder. move to next featureclass I just wasn't sure, since the .exe is looking for 7 inputs, if it would work. There is nothing coded which would pass the constants to the .exe. I felt like it would still be looking for inputs. Now having thought it through, it makes sense since sys.argv is coming from the script, not the exe. Thanks

I have a tool that I would like to run on each file in a folder. The tool runs in arcmap and is a python shell that concocts a command line command that then calls to an .exe. Is there a way to hard code within the python script variables the .exe is looking for? There are 7 variables, they will all remain the same aside from the first, which will just change for each FeatureClass. I have a giant raster (1.76GB) that has been converted to polygons and placed in a .GDB. I am interested in using the eliminate tool to remove all polygons smaller than one acre (calculated within .gdb). The dataset is still too large for eliminate. Is there a way to break the polygons apart without splitting some into smaller parts? The identity tool was suggested but I can't really figure out how it works. Thanks.

I am trying to model a watershed at a finer resolution than my states NHD shows. I understand the processes of Hydro but was wondering why it is acceptable to burn the streams into the DEM when doing so not only alters the stream section of the dem by 10M but also smooths the surrounding cells. It seems that in doing so would introduce error from the start. After modeling with and without burning the NHD into the DEM there are clearly differences in the resulting stream layers. Observation points match closer to the burned results. Is this just the trade off? That the total error is lessened by introducing slight error at the start? Thanks

The data could be coming in from field offices, not necessarally people on location. If the editing is done via desktop could the fields be auto populated then? We are using 10.1. It would be best if the reporting parties had an opportunity to check the auto populated attributes to eliminate reporting errors. The ultimate goal is for them to just put a point on a map and have the table open. They then check over whatever is already filled in and then use the dropdowns to complete the table.

Ok, the autocollection can be done at a later time, I wondered how it would work since the feature services can't work with rasters. I have a bit to do before I get to publishing it too. I am starting from absolute zero. Really I need a tutorial from very beginning to publication. First I build a .GDB and it needs to be an ArcSDE geodatabase? Can a File .GDB be turned into an ArcSDE one? Then I build the featureclass with subtypes and domains, this will be what is edited. The user will place a point on a basemap and then fill in the table. Then it will update to my gdb and I can run the attribute assistant? Thanks
