You can simply add token at the end of the url when creating the layer. For example: var layer = new esri.layers.ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer("serviceUrl/token=your_token"); map.addLayer(layer);

As John pointed out, it fails when it goes through proxy. Please check the proxy is valid. The first time, it has to go through proxy because it doesn't know if it's CORS supported.

Sigurjon, I explored this a little bit further. Because there is no way to cancel an edit request even you decide that this is an accident in the onBeforeApplyEdits event, it seems manipulating editToolbar would be a more elegant solution. Please see the document: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/jsapi/edit.html Pay attention to onGraphicMoveStop(graphic, transform) and onVertexMoveStop(graphic, vertexInfo, transform). The transform gives the information about how far the graphic/vertex has been moved. If it's not far enough, you can move the graphic/vertex back to its original location. If you are using editor widget, you can get reference to editToolbar by editor._editToolbar

David, You can specify the default unit for area and length measurement. Please see the document at: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/jsapi/measurement.html You will find defaultAreaUnit and defaultLengthUnit is configurable. Hope this helps.

My understanding is that you still want the editing functionality, but don't want the features to be moved accidentally. So you want to set a safe zone. If moving within that area, it's considered as unwanted editing. Is it right? You may want to look at featureLayer.onBeforeApplyEdits(adds, updates, deletes) event, which fires before posting the editing to the server. At that point, you can compare the updates and existing geometries.

To your question, yes, editing needs proxy. I wrote a document regarding when a proxy page is needed. http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/77128-Export-Web-Map-Task-Error-unable-to-connect-to-map-server-only-at-the-first-time/#8 Hope this helps.

Client side doesn't implement spatial index, so snapping manager has to scan all available geometries to find the proper point to snap to. For IE8, the javascript engine is quite slow compared to other browsers. When the number of features gets large, it will be an issue.

Do you mean snapping when drawing or editing geometries? Here is the doc: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/jsapi/snappingmanager.html Some samples: Snapping with measurement tools: http://developers.arcgis.com/en/javascript/samples/widget_measurement/ Snapping with editor widget: http://developers.arcgis.com/en/javascript/samples/ed_editing_widget/

It's a bug. Will fix it. At this point, you can specifically call setVisibleLayers to turn on the layers. Hope this helps. var visibleLayers = response.itemInfo.itemData.operationalLayers[0].visibleLayers; var layer = map.getLayer("MAP_ANR_NRMPCOMPONENTS_WM_NOCACHE_1299"); layer.setVisibleLayers(visibleLayers);

Chris, You can modify the CSS to change the look and feel. Please see the CSS part at: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/jsapi/measurement.html Additionally, you can hide/show some parts of the template, add/remove items from the unit dropdown and customize other stuff. There are some things that don't support to customize. For example, it's not possible to move the result div from bottom to top. As Ben pointed out, it's defined in the dijit template. Maybe you can clarify what you need so that we can discuss the possibility. I have a client that has a requirement for the measurement tools to be aligned a certain way and be labeled a certain way. Since the esri.dijit.measurement dijit is wrapped tightly, my options feel very limited. Is there a way that I could specify my own template, that would have all of the divs and labels that I need? Any help would be appreciated. -Chris

Yes, the featureLayer has to be added to the map and it has to be visible. Ah, do I understand correctly then, that the snapping only works on feature layers added to the map? I guess so If so it would explain a lot as I have no feature layers, just dynamic ones. So, if I add a feature layer to the map - does it have to be visible? Cheers ACM
