Hi Henry, I apologize for any issues you're having with Search in Workforce.  I just tried testing out a Search by Layer with the Contains operator and confirmed that Workforce is returning the results. Can you confirm that you are hitting enter/return to initiate the search?  Search in Workforce has not been updated to work the same way as it does in ArcGIS Online - that is under consideration for one of our next few releases. To make this work, you'd need to add the new fields to the assignments feature service first and then create the on top of it.  We do support adding fields to the assignments feature service, but they are not picked up and displayed in the Workforce web/mobile applications. Craig ... View more

Hi Erica, We do have this request in our backlog, but it's not currently assigned to a release.  This would be a large change to Workforce to allow this type of mapping between a layer and Workforce assignments and it would be a main driver for any release it's in.
