I moved my 10.3.1 Server and Image Extension to a new virtual server, which leaves me with the old physical server as a development server for 10.5.1. I ran an update to ArcGIS Server 10.5.1 on the old 10.3.1 install, and it seemed to work. Now, in order to test Image Server, how do I install it on the same machine, since it is just a licensing variant of the ArcGIS Server install? I want to thoroughly test 10.5.1 before I move it to production, because my SQL database will need an upgrade too. Can I do this on a single machine? Or is it mandatory that Image Server run on a separate machine?

I suspect a rogue Microsoft update. Anybody else see this behavior? My Windows 10 machine loads it fine. I'm living in fear because I have about 30 users on Windows 7 that are going to start calling me soon if their Explorer Desktop quits loading. I want to figure out the problem before I get buried in calls.

Currently have Desktop and Server 10.3.1, Image Extension, SQL Server 2008 R2. File geodatabases, Server, Image Extension and SQL currently on single physical server, WebAdaptor on a virtual. There is a new virtual server with my name on it, ready to receive my Server setup. The IT engineers didn't image it because they wanted a clean virtual server, no physical server bloatware. Is there a way to replicate Server so I don't have to re-create all my services? Or do I have to go back to the map documents once I install Server and Image Extension and re-create all my services like I did in the 9x to 10.0 upgrade? Side note: Should I also upgrade Server? I can't upgrade Desktop yet due to 3rd party tools. If I should upgrade Server, should it be 10.4.1 or 10.5?

I need to stay at 10.3.1 Desktop for some 3rd party add-ins but I'd like to upgrade Server to 10.4. I'm moving from a physical to a virtual server, seems like a good time to update to 10.4.

I tried your suggestion, and I CAN save with the copied feature class in a new file geodatabase. So what does this mean about my original geodatabase?

Just got back from UC2015, and getting the attached error on simply editing a point file in a file geodatabase. The dialog box is titled, "Save Edits" Unable to save edits. Error stopping an edit session with save edits [layername] OK. This is not OK. I don't have any query layers involved, and I have pulled this layer into a brand new map file, same results. This message is so vague that I don't know where to start. I did check to see if there were lock files hanging around, didn't find any. Thanks for any suggestions on this. Amy Brassieur

I have moved on to build 2500 and 2505.. I'm having good results by sticking with IE 9 and integrated graphics. All my processors (CPUs) are Intel. Explorer is picky about processors, crashes and won't run on Celeron on the machines I tried. I get squirrely results on AMD processors. Sometimes it's OK, sometimes not. I made sure my IT guy only buys systems with Intel processors, but some of the entities that contribute to my department have computers with AMDs. I did just uninstall build 2500 on my laptop and installed 2505. This caused my nVidia 3D settings to forget that E3.exe was set to integrated graphics. I had strange behavior from 2505 till I added E3.exe back to the exceptions list to use integrated graphics.

Mary Ellen, I haven't found any answer besides rolling iE back to 9 every time it updates. After I roll it back, I search for Windows updates, then go in and hide any IE updates. I have about 25 users who seem to get staggered IE updates so I don't have to do them all at once. I'd have to figure out something automated if I had more users.

We are not yet publishing services for the general public's direct consumption. However, we are using WebAdaptor with an outside IP address together with a subscription to ArcGIS.com. Using the outside IP address to access the services when putting them in maps in ArcGIS.com then only sharing them with members of your organization allows you to keep the info in-house even when working remotely. We are using ArcGIS.com to view the maps remotely on laptops, and Esri's iOS and Android viewers to log in to ArcGIS.com and access maps on iPads and smartphones in the field. Since our network guy hasn't done the magic to view the outside IP address inside, I have to use a computer that's not on our domain to create the maps in ArcGIS.com in the first place.

Having the same problem. Going in circles. Would pay for someone to remote into my computer and talk me through what has to happen for this to work. I'm not a DBA, faking my way through SQL permissions.

If you have integrated graphics on the nVidia laptop, add E3.exe to the program settings in the video card's 3D settings to use integrated graphics, not the nVidia magic. Also, I have to roll back every machine to IE 9 since the IE 10 came out last spring. IE 10 seems to break ArcGIS Explorer, both build 1750 and build 2500. I have about 20 people using ArcGIS Explorer Desktop, been using it since 2010. Amy Brassieur GIS Manager Iberia Parish Government

I had reports from users that ArcExplorer worked one day, didn't work the next day. It wouldn't finish coming up in either build 1750 or 2500. There was an error message about ArcGIS Connection as well. The behavior of OK one day and broken the next led me to believe it was due to an automatic Windows update. I checked the machines for updates that happened right before the program quit working. (Control Panel, Programs and Features, View Installed Updates). An update from Internet Explorer 9 to IE 10 was found on each affected machine, with a date corresponding to the software failure. I removed IE 10, the machines reverted to IE 9, rebooted, and ArcExplorer Desktop was OK again, no more errors. This began in early April, and has appeared sporadically since. Joe, Thanks so much for the bug notice. I just removed the scale dependency, re-created service, and looks like the build 1500 bug is still alive and well in build 1750. Without the scale dependency, the info popup works fine. Good news and bad news - I have info, but also one heinously ugly map. I guess I have to choose between elegant looks and functionality. Again, Thanks for your tip. Amy

Tried some of my older services, based on obsolete data. Those services did give a popup in ArcGIS Explorer Desktop 1750. I haven't changed the way I'm creating the services, and went through all their properties to see if anything was different. I can't figure out why my new services won't give an info popup in ArcGIS Explorer Desktop. They DO give info popups in ArcMap. Anyone? Anyone? Thanks, Amy
