Since you mention both the utility network and the trace network, it's not clear which industry domain you are referring to here. Esri does NOT recommend using the Trace Network for water, wastewater, gas, telecom, or electric networks. These industry domains are the reason we built the utility network in the first place. One reason we do not recommend the Trace Network is that we lack mobile and web support. We have been steadily adding web and mobile support for utility networks for several years now. We're not done yet, and still have at least a few more years of work to go. As you've noted, it's two different services with two different REST APIs. That would mean two different JavaScript APIs, two sets of Web Components, two sets of extensions for Map Viewer, Web Editor, and Experience Builder, etc. And the same on the mobile side. Adding full support for Trace Networks would roughly double the amount of work required. Like every other company, we have limited development resources and dividing them to support two different network types would inevitably delay full utility network support. At this point, we have no plans to do this. If the hydrology market is interested in web support, we will of course consider it in the future, but only the functionality needed to support hydrology-specific workflows. --Rich

A group of us here at Esri came across this post while working on another issue. Branch versioning is built to work with Portal-federated feature services, and not AGS standalone. I'm glad you were able to find a work-around, but while we won't do anything to intentionally block this scenario, it's also not supported and might not work in a future release.

I'm the product owner for the Utility Network JavaScript API, so I'd love to know more about what you want to do that isn't possible with that API. If you don't want to share this information publicly, please reach out via e-mail at [email protected]. Pro and Enterprise should ship later this spring. I'm not on those teams, so don't want to speak for them with exact dates. --Rich

We also have an entirely new telecom domain network that will ship with Pro 3.7 and Enterprise 12.1 later this year. It's currently in beta.

Hello, We have a blog post that describes how to configure Map Viewer to work with utility networks. The blog post doesn't describe that you can also configure popups to allow navigating relationships. There's similar tools in Web Editor as well, and we're in the process of adding more functionality to Experience Builder. If you have access to DevSummit recordings, I've helped present a session titled "Beyond the Desktop: WebGIS and the Utility Network." If you are an application developer, we also provide a JavaScript API for the utility network, and of course, the underlying REST API is also available. Is this the kind of information you're looking for? Let me know if you have further questions, --Rich

Hi Sebastian, We're currently supporting offline workflows using Offline Map areas created with ArcGIS Enterprise. These areas can be generated on the server, updated on a regular basis, and downloaded to individual clients (one enterprise map package is downloaded to multiple clients). Which client are you using for offline workflows? Pro, Field Maps, or a custom app? --Rich

Branch versioning only works through a feature service connection. Instructions for creating a connection to a feature service geodatabase can be found here: https://github.com/Esri/arcgis-pro-sdk/wiki/ProConcepts-Geodatabase#geodatabase

@PierreloupDucroix We've made the internal changes necessary to support this, and are beginning the work to roll this change out to web and mobile applications. Unfortunately, this was implemented too late to make it for Web Editor 12.1, but it should certainly make it for 12.3 (the next network management release) --Rich

Not sure if we'll have time to get it into the 5.0 docs, but we added it to our task list. --Rich Maybe the doc should be extended by a sample showing the different means of multiple features within one "edit"-object and multiple "edit"-objects within the "edits"-array

Another solution that does not rely on the Subnetwork Name field being properly updated is to use the Utility Network Trace Widget in Experience Builder. To do this, you would define a trace configuration in ArcGIS Pro that does a subnetwork trace- use the setting for include structures, and an output filter to define which asset types you want to include. Once you've gotten the trace working in Pro, add it to your web map and then it would be accessible from inside Experience Builder. --Rich

Thanks @HusseinNasser2 that is super helpful and should solve the problem! @SebastianKrings , I checked with the developer who wrote `featureService.applyEdits` and we were able to confirm that if you pass three separate edits into the JavaScript routine, it should generate a REST call like Hussein specifies above. I hope this helps! --Rich
