This is exactly what I am looking to do. We need another option in the feature layer settings: "Allow editing of feature attributes and related table records, but no editing of feature geometry (add, update, or delete)" Without this feature, utility maps with related inspection records can be easily messed up by field workers.

Thanks Ismael, this is helpful. However, you still didn't answer whether Survey123 can be used to collect information into a related table of a feature service that is editable with Collector. We would like to use Collector to edit attributes about the features in our water utility system (like hydrants, valves) but use Survey123 to add inspection reports to the feature classes via a related table (such as valve turning operations, hydrant flushing, etc.)

So you are saying that Survey123 will not be able to be launched from collector to edit a related table of a feature service that is editable in collector? It would be great to be able to collect feature "inspection" surveys in a related table rather than a separate feature class. Collector works good for collecting data in a related table, but Survey123 would allow the form to be customized much more.

Hello, I have an existing web map created and hosted on arcgis online here: http://hobart.maps.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=bc072ad95fa340528519e1f770d44643 The map consists of a custom basemap and a feature layer of polygons. My goal is create a custom javascript app that uses the arcgis javascript "feature layer hover" code here: Feature layer hover | ArcGIS API for JavaScript , so that when users hover their mouse over the polygons they would be highlighted and users would know to click on them. I'm fairly new to the arcgis javascript scene, but I've been playing around with the samples and can't get this to work. I can't even get my web map to show by referencing the web map ID. Any advice on how to get this started would be very appreciated. Thanks, ~Phil

Is there a way to modify the later list widget so layers can be group, and turned on and off as a group instead of individually? This would be very useful for utility maps. ~Phil

Hello, Up until now, I've been utilizing the Web AppBuilder that is built into ArcGIS online to create the web applications we deliver to clients. I'm interested in expanding the functionality of these apps by adding custom widgets, but I'm not sure how to set up the web server that would host the custom built apps. I don't have a lot of experience with networking and such, so I don't really know where to start with setting up a web server on our company's network. We are a small firm so we don't have a dedicated IT person, so it would be up to me to come up with the steps to complete this project. First of all, would the server be running on one dedicated machine that would need to be running all the time for clients to access the applications? Or would it run on the machines that are running our internal servers? Is there free software for setting up this kind of server? Also, I'm wondering if there is a way to achieve this using a cloud hosted solution, and if anybody could recommend providers for this service? Thank you for the help! I appreciate any help to lead me in the right direction. ~Phil

Enhanced Table of Contents Widget I think we need a TOC widget that would allow for grouping feature layers, so you can turn them on and off in groups instead of individually. I produce online utility maps, and I would like our clients to be able to turn on and off all layers in a system instead of doing each separately. It looks like some work has been done on this topic already, and it's something I've been looking for in the ArcGIS Online web viewer for ages. Heres the examples I've run across:http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=9b6280a6bfb0430f8d1ebc969276b109 TOC Template to use sublayers

I'm still looking for a way to group layers in ArcGIS Online. I am managing utility networks, and would like to group water utility, sanitary, and storm utility features together, instead of just having each layer listed separately in the layer list. I want to be able to turn on and off the whole system instead of just one layer at a time. This seems like such a simple feature to integrate with ArcGIS Online...

The recent release of ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Collector for mobile has integrated functionality for related records. The Collector app for Android allows you to collect related features, and you can view them on ArcGIS Online, but I cannot find a way to add a new related record on an ArcGIS Online web map. Does anybody know a method to do this currently, or are there plans to add this feature to ArcGIS Online? It doesn't make sense that this functionality is built into the mobile app but not the main web map viewer. This is an incredibly important feature for me, as this is necessary for the utility management our clients are using ArcGIS Online for. Thanks, ~Phil

I saved a copy of this map to my org, and tried to open it in collector. The same thing happens - screen flashes black, then it goes back to the map selection screen. I'm using the most recent collector running on Nexus 4. ~Phil

The feature service is in the same coordinate system as the basemap (Brown County, WI Coordinates). So you have this working in the collector app? ~Phil

Hello, I've been trying to use the collector app with a custom basemap to allow for editing of a utility feature service in the field, but I'm running into problems. The maps I have published that use my custom basemap and editable feature service show up in the collector app, but when I click them it tries to load, the screen flashes black, and it returns to the map selection screen on the app. I thought it may be because I'm using a custom basemap, so I tried adding my editable utility layer to the default arcgis online basemap and this map worked as expected within the app. The basemap I'm using is here: Services Directory - VillageOfHobartBasemap(MapServer) I can't share the actual map I tried using within collector because the utility data is sensitive. Does anybody have an idea why I can't use this custom basemap within the collector app (android)? It's frustrating, because the default basemap won't serve our purposes. We need to be able to zoom into the scales that our basemap allows for (up to 1:280). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! ~Philip

Wondering if any progress has been made on this issue? I have a wonderful utility app built for a client that does everything well except editing on mobile devices. I'm not sure why this isn't working... On phones it seems the widget simply doesn't function because you can't have the editing window open and be able to see the screen. On an iPad the attribute window never appears. It's odd because the same thing happens when using the device preview screens within the web app builder. This is a problem for me because the ArcGIS Collector app isn't working with my maps because of my custom basemaps. I need a solution for our client to be able to edit the data in the field. ~Phil

Robert, Thanks for the info. I'll give that a try. I didn't know you could leave the API key blank, while leaving it blank and testing it locally, I get an error message from google saying it's not registered. Google Drive has been my workaround for being able to distribute custom applications to clients. Our company doesn't have an ArcGIS server or any type of HTTP server, so it seemed the best bet was to use a web host. Google Drive is free for hosting 5gb of data, and these apps are relatively small, so this solution should work for quite a few apps. You just have to use the link www.googledrive.com/host/[DOCUMENTID] with the document ID being the ID string of the index file. Google has documentation about using Drive as a web host here: Host webpages with Drive - Drive Help I did run into one problem with this method, however. In the example app I posted above, when I uploaded it any widgets that were in the header area didn't work. If you clicked on them nothing happened. However, the widgets in the "floating area" worked fine. I spent awhile trying to remedy this issue but I couldn't find a source of the error, so I removed those widgets, as they weren't essential to the function of the app. ~Phil

Robert, I have to say, this widget looks so useful!! I also really appreciate the time you put into the eSearch widget, its so much more functional than the built in query widget. However, I'm having trouble setting up the Google Map API to allow access to the street view widget in my apps. The apps I am creating are using the WAB developer version 1, then hosting them online using Google Drive. I've successfully created an application that runs well hosted on the Google Drive as the web host. Here is the example: ArcGIS Web Application The problem is, I don't know what to use as the URL's when registering the Google Maps API. I don't really know what the URL will be until it is uploaded to Google Drive, and then at that point I can't change the widget settings (unless I edit the script files but I wouldn't be sure which to edit.) Just wondering if you could share any info that could help me get this widget up and running in my apps! Thanks, ~Phil
