Friends and fellow developers, we are pleased to announce that the new 100.0 (quartz) is now available for download, for all platforms! This application is very useful for a number of reasons. First, it acts as the "business card" of ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java, useful for presenting core capabilities to technology decision makers and buyers. It showcases the latest and greatest version of the product. Secondly, is provides a quick and easy way for developers to see what the API can do and to immediately see how it works in a best-practice approach. For each sample, the source code is immediately available for cutting and pasting into their own projects. We're very happy with the design and how it turned out. I see this happen sometimes when my app hasn't been granted external storage permissions. Does you manifest file have the following entry? <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" />

Thanks for the question. Good one. These overlays are part of the toolkit. The Java toolkit is planned for an upcoming update release, hopefully in the first half of 2017. No guarantees, but we really hope to deliver this soon.

Thanks for asking. This capability didn't make 100.0, unfortunately. However, we are hoping it will be there for Update 1 next year.

A few questions: Have you copied and pasted the lite string from the developers site as-is? I'm not sure why your code is calling setLicense() twice, as your screen shot indicates. Can you explain? The second one you show should be all you need to call. The single-parameter license string should work. Can you get the LicenseResult returned from this and tell is what it says? Thanks!

For 100.0, have a look at the static method setProxyInfo on the RequestConfiguration class. Let us know if this helps.

Michael, Great discussion point. You should be able to reference both APIs from the same application, making sure that you keep your JavaFX and SWING stuff on separate threads, as Thomas alluded to. We would be very interested in how you progress on this. Thanks!

Hello! Check to make sure you can access the elevation and imagery basemap services from your computer where your sample is running. Does your network require a proxy out to access external services?

There is an onSignInError signal you can handle. There's also a property called signedIn, which tells you if the user is signed in or not. Are these helpful?

Yes, this is doable. You might be missing one thing: you'll need to create a Service Proxy URL for your app login to use, instead of directly going to the private service endpoint. Working with Proxy Services | ArcGIS for Developers - this may be a helpful resource for you to get started setting up a proxy, in this case. Hope this helps.
