It’s possible that those are related, but I really can’t say. I’d talk to Support and see if they can link you up with someone who specializes in Server Performance.

Hi Anna, you're not going to be able to get the original data from Open Data image downloads. However, each image should get sharper as you zoom in. Is that the case?

Wow, 64GB is a ton of RAM. You can safely increase your heap sizes quite a bit. I’m hesitant to give you specific numbers because I’m not an expert in ArcGIS Server. But I can certainly say the defaults were created for a machine with much less than 64GB of ram. Support may be able to point you to a better guideline. Again, it may not be necessary at all if you lower the max record count to more appropriate values.

Hey Chris, Lowering your max record counts to 1k to 2k does sound appropriate in general. As you have noted, the process of creating downloads has changed significantly since the early days of Open Data. Unfortunately the documentation is a little weak around recommend heap sizes. How much total ram is available on your server instance(s)? On machines with large amounts of RAM you should be able to increase Server heap size quite a bit. Without seeing the actual error that is reported by your server instance it’s tough for me to tell you whether you need to increase Server, SOC or both. The Server heap is the total amount of memory available to available to all services while SOC represents the amount available to individual services. All that said, reducing the max record counts to more appropriate levels will reduce the need for ArcGIS Server to use heap space when serving requests. Daniel

Hi Chris, we need to figure out why this query is failing or slow: http://atoll.floridamarine.org/arcgis/rest/services/FWC_GIS/OpenData_Elevation/MapServer/0/query?outSR=4326&where=OBJECTID%20%3E=%2014001%20AND%20OBJECTID%3C=15000&f=json&outFields=*&geometry=&returnGeometry=true&geometryPrecision=10 Open Data cannot produce a download from this dataset if this query fails repeatedly. My best guess is that the heap size on your server is set to low. That means this query is simply to big to hold in memory. You could try lowering the max record count for this service or increasing the allowed heap size. Do either of those help that query complete? Daniel

Yes via the service itself. Open data always requests the maximum image size available. Sent from Outlook Mobile<https://aka.ms/blhgte>

Yes, I can confirm that this falls into their responsibility. If our application receives a 404 when trying to make routine requests, there is no way we can add it to our index. Support will get the Open Data team involved when/if there are steps we can take. Try that route and if you don't get anywhere, let me know and we'll take a fresh look. Daniel

One idea, there is an existing bug about: ArcGIS Online looks at the first 10 fields to determine whether an attribute is string or numeric. Any rows after that where the field contains a different type than was determined will be thrown out. The resolution is to make sure there are some string fields within the top 10 rows when updating the csv. Does that help?

Hi Anna, the best way to share basemaps is via the service itself. However, you can increase the resolution of your image exports by changing the maximum size per image request parameters mentioned here: Image service parameters—Documentation (10.3 and 10.3.1) | ArcGIS for Server Let me know if this doesn't make sense. I actually didn't fix anything. It may be an error that happens sporadically. If this is a dataset that doesn't change very often, I'd recommend that you set the download cache to manual in your data manager. This will help prevent any future download errors because we already have the data cached now.

Hey Warren, a couple thoughts here. 1. You can script uploads of that CSV. The best way to see how that works is to Open dev tools in your browser and visit the CSV Item page in ArcGIS Online. Then hit the upload button and replace the csv while watching the API calls your browser makes in the network activity tab. Here's the relevant documentation for that. http://resources.arcgis.com/EN/HELP/ARCGIS-REST-API/index.html#/Update_Features/02r3000000zt000000/ 2. The other way you can go is adding the features to a hosted service. You can do that programmatically as well. Each time your underlying data updates, you can update the features in place, or delete all the features and upload over them. You can do all this while maintaining the same service. Here's the docs for that: http://resources.arcgis.com/EN/HELP/ARCGIS-REST-API/index.html#/Update_Features/02r3000000zt000000/ If neither of these ways work, I've got a few other ideas for you, but they're going to be more difficult and less supported. Let me know what you think.
