Does the size of data fields included in the attribute table of a feature class affect the performance if the feature class is published? Hello, I am wondering if the number of the fields included in the attribute table of a feature class affect the performance if the feature class is published. Let’s assume that I have 2 F.C’s both of them contains a 1000 features, but one of them have 20 fields and the other one have 5 fields, now if the features was published using the ArcGIS server, will the one with the 5 fields will be more efficient than the one with 20 fields. Does the number fields affecte the layer performance or the server performance or both of them?! Regards, Ahmad Saleh

Hi Jake, Thanks for the help, I have followed the document by creating an empty feature service in the AGOL and enabled tracking layer, but the point doesn’t moves as the ArcGIS collector holder moves. What might be the issue here !!! Also is it possible to enable the tacking on a feature service which was published Using the ArcGIS server, or enable tacking is available with services which is published using AGOL Many Thanks, Ahmad Saleh

Hello All, This is really confusing behavior and I don’t know what is the purpose of it, when I am connected to a published maps using the ArcGIS server as a USER I was surprised that after dragging a feature service to the TOC I can open its attribute table and export its data to my machine, connecting again but this time with Administrators credentials I was surprise d that the administrator cannot open the attribute table nor exporting the data!!! Also why the both the administrator and the user cannot open the attribute table for a non-feature enabled maps !! Another question why does the any user who has accessed to the ArcGIS server maps with user privileges can visually distinguish between the services with “feature access” enabled\ “non-feature access” form there icon but the admin cannot!! Because all icons for the published maps looks the same for all maps if you have accessed with Admin privileges! Best regards, Ahmad Saleh

Tracking a vehicle using ArcGIS Operations Dashboard The following tutorial “Monitor and respond to activities and events” which was provided by esri for the Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS http://doc.arcgis.com/en/operations-dashboard/windows-desktop/user/monitor-and-respond-to-events.htm A section descripts how to Follow a vehicle as says “You can see the ambulances moving around the map as they drive around the city. During an operation, you may need to track where a vehicle is, keeping an eye on its progress by following the vehicle on the map. The followed vehicle flashes on the map to enhance its visibility, and the map remains centered on the followed vehicle.” But the question here how to let the ambulance driver update his location “the feature point” doses he needs to do it manually like adding a point where ever he goes just to let the user who is following the vehicle on the dashboard updated ?? Is there a method to let the ambulance “the feature point” moves automatically on the map when the ambulance moves such as the GPS. Do the ambience needs any hardware to be installed on it or this can be done using an ordinary Mobile device which has a GPS activated and connected to ArcGIS collector? Best regards, Ahmad Saleh

Dear Jennifer and Randy, Thanks for the tips and ideas that you provided, but unfortunately it will not work in my case since some of the layers are hosted only in my web mapping application and related to other organizations and some layers are very heavy (more than 250,000 feature) and it would be heavier if I added more features to it. Thanks guys for the keen help. Ahmad

Dear Jake, Its really a very helpful tool, but I am not searching about downloading the data rather than viewing it online, I have a web mapping application that reads these services directly on top of each other and the users suffering from this issue and after investigating it I found that the source of this issue is the ArcGIS server. So I am searching for a solution for it. Many thanks and very much appreciated. Ahmad

Hi Scott, You are totally right about what you mentioned about versioning, I need to Reconcile/Post versions in order to see the edits of users on the map. I have tried to enable archiving for the feature class but I still need to Reconcile/Post to see the edits, Is this a normal behavior? Because I don’t think so. Thanks, Ahmad

Hello, I couldn’t figure out how to remove the label conflict between the different published map services, I have several map services and I want to show them at the same time, but the issue here is that the labels of these service conflict and overlay on each other!! Is there any suggestions to avoid this? Using ArcGIS Desktop/Server 10.3.1 Regards, Ahmad Saleh

Hi Dan, I am using Collector 10.3.3 , SQL server 2014. and the users can edit the Default version so that there is no need to reconcile post procedure. every user can see the edits of the other users directly, but here the sync fails to push the edits to main database and it seems the the edits still trapped inside the map only but not the service. Thanks, Ahmad
