There's a JavaScript API wrapper method on the QueryTask for this option called queryForExtent. I created a quick SitePen using the 'query without map' sample and ...it works. So it's not a bug on the server or service. Those appear to be correct... I've captured the network requests and will see what the difference is.

Hi All: According to the REST SDK help page, MapService\Layer\Query supports the returnExtentOnly option at 10.3.1+ for on-premise servers when the layer's "supportsReturningQueryExtent" is true. The WYSIWYG REST Query form has a radio button for the values as well. However I can't seem to get this option to return anything at all. Is the documentation off, something else wrong? Follow these steps on the sample server: 1. Open the top level REST info for the server: Folder: / + verified server is 10.6 2. Open the SampleWorldCities\Continent info Layer: Continent (ID: 1) + verified supportsReturningQueryExtent = true (both in html and json output) 3. Open SampleWorldCities\Continent\Query Query: Continent (ID: 1) + set where for a specific feature ie : CONTINENT='South America' + click Returns Extents Only to True radio button + click Query (Get) button Result is definitely not a simple extent. + click Return Geometry to False radio button + click Query (Get) button Result is just the display attribute + click Return Count Only to True radio button (this is mentioned in the help) + click Query (Get) button Result is just the count number. So is the help wrong or does this service not support the option even though it says it does or am I doing something wrong or have the wrong expectation of what this does? I tried some other map services and get the same result so it doesn't seem particular to the SampleWorldCities, I used that as a simple example since everyone has it on their server. Thanks Fred

Hi Raluca, Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked what happens with 4.7 yet. I just sent along an email to my associate with the issue. I'll report back as soon as I hear from her. It was narrowed to Chrome and Edge (latest version at the time) on a Windows 10 laptop. More soon. Fred

Hi I'm having this issue quite a bit now. I can't publish services from ArcMap. The failure appears to be the publishing task is not fully populated. For a while it seemed intermittent, so I've ignored it, but now it's pretty constant. 1. I can access and administer the server via catalog and web manager -- the server seems fine in that regards. I can access services and the rest directory etc... 2. If I save the draft and publish via the web manager, all good. So again server seems fine and service definition is ok once created. 3. Server logs don't show anything so it doesn't appear to even be getting as far as exchanging any communication with the server. 4. I stooped/started the publishing tools on the server. Same result. Thanks

Thanks Kelly, But no dice... we found those suggestions before I posted the thread, sorry I didn't mention that. I won't worry too much at this point since it only seems to happen on one machine but it doesn't give me the warm-fuzzy feeling for deploying 4.x and 3D for general applications.

Hi All, Odd issue found today. So far it's isolated to only one specific computer of the 10 or so I've tried to reproduce on, but happens every time on this one machine. I upgraded a SceneView app from v4.3 to v4.6 and this one machine can't load the globe anymore. I narrowed it down to the change at v4.5. It works in v4.4 but doesn't with v4.5 or 4.6. It does seem to work in Firefox but not Chrome or Edge. I removed all the custom code back to the bare bones 3D example from the API samples: Intro to SceneView - Create a 3D map - 4.6 to verify it wasn't something in my javascript/html/css/etc. So for discussion, this basic example fails. Other details: * no error messages in the JavaScript console * no network request failures. * Watching the console compared to a working version shows that all the Javascript is downloaded but then stops before requesting any tiles/data. * as far as I can tell, the machine meets all the 3D, webgl specs. Any thoughts? Thanks

I'm making a case for consistency and adequate documentation. If one desktop product can read it correctly, the others should too. ArcGIS Pro is only available on Windows and since case is not sensitive on Windows, a Windows application should not be case sensitive to file paths and names. These documents doesn't mention the .gdb MUST be lowercase: File geodatabase size and name limits—Help | ArcGIS Desktop File geodatabase size and name limits—Manage file geodatabases | ArcGIS Desktop Mostly I'm just documenting the issue in case someone else searches for why their file geodatabase isn't working in ArcGIS Pro.

Using ArcGIS Pro 2.1.1, I spent an hour banging my head on a file geodatabase that a client sent me. It opens and reads fine in ArcCatalog and ArcMap but couldn't read or open any feature classes in ArcGIS Pro. It turns out the issue was with the folder extension using uppercase letters .GDB. I soon as I changed them to lowercase, all was good. Steps to reproduce: Open ArcCatalog create new geodatabase TEST1.gdb Add a feature class Close ArcCatalog Use windows explorer, make a copy of the folder to TEST2.GDB Open ArcCatalog, both TEST1.gdb and TEST2.GDB are visible and feature class can be seen Open ArcGIS Pro Create a new map template project Try to add feature class from TEST2.GDB I can't get it display the feature class using the Add Data Button, Adding the database connection or Adding the folder connection. Close ArcGIS Pro and ArcCatalog Open windows explorer Rename TEST2.GDB to TEST2.gdb Reopen ArcGIS Pro and the test project. Try to add the feature class from TEST2.gdb, works fine in all three places.

Hi All, Got a issue driving me crazy today.... I have a registered 'App' in my organization. I'm using the clientId and clientSecret to generate a token and execute geocoding and routing. I have a few custom Travel Modes defined under the organization utility services tab as discussed in the documentation. All the default modes are removed. When I log into the organization on ArcGIS.com and use the UI map, the directions widget shows the correct set of custom Travel Modes and they calculate routes the way I expect. However when I use the application to call "Utilities/GPServer/GetTravelModes", the return contains the "stock default" set of travel modes NOT the custom set defined in the organization. When the application executes a route request, the results are clearly using one of the defaults not one of the custom settings. Why can't the application access the organization settings?

Hi Curtis, Thanks for the reply, but I'm specifically interested in the 'Runtime' SDK not the 'ArcObjects' or 'Pro' SDKs. I've noticed a number of blogs/tweets on Runtime examples that appear to be using 2017 features so it must be via the NuGet package route Rich described.

Hi All, I'm trying to create a "travel mode" configuration for fire trucks as a custom mode in the routing analysis. I've been looking thru the docs here: Travel modes—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS It seems very flexible and should be something that can be achieved but probably requires a good bit of tuning. I'm wondering if anyone has created one they feel confident in and comfortable sharing. Or at the very least any suggestions and which parameters would be best to tweak. It's not for exact directions but estimated response times. Thanks
