It was B - the layers weren't in the legend to be ticked - it had never occurred to me to just drag them from the map frame. Brilliant - thank you very much indeed!

This feels like a silly question, but I honestly can't figure out the answer to it! If I have a legend on a layout, and it doesn't contain all of the layers from the map frame that it is linked to, is there any way of adding the layers back in? I've had this issue a few times, and have ended up creating a new legend as I can't find a way around it, but I'm sure I must be missing something basic! Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, I ran into the same frustration a couple of months ago. All of the nice new functionality in the new map viewer (grouped layers and more advanced symbology, etc) can’t be used in WAB. I understand that WAB uses the 3.X version of the JS API, and the new map builder 4.X. I tried using EB instead but lost some of the fundamental functionality I was using in WAB, so reverted back to that… Agree that products are being pushed out before they should be, which is a shame, as there is a lot of great functionality in the ‘nearly ready’ pile!

I’m afraid WAB builder can’t handle grouped layers. You’ll need to use experience builder for that (although that comes with drawbacks as you can’t achieve everything you can in WAB…)

Thanks @DanPatterson , yup I was hoping that there might be a similar little hack like the one that used to work... and wanted to avoid converting to graphics as I know it will change later on, but looks like that's going to be my best option. Thanks again for the help, Helen

Thanks @DanPatterson , but I don't really want word wrap, as I don't want a consistent width for the whole legend... just a few extra carriage returns to split some entries into two at particular places, does that make sense?

Does anyone remember that handy little hack in ArcMap, where you could force a carriage return in a legend item by pasting the carriage return character into the label for a symbol? Is there anything similar in ArcGIS Pro? I'm just looking for a super-speedy way to fit a legend around a shape on the map...

Thanks @AdrianWelsh , I'd just brought in some soil and geology data and made a layout with 4 map frames, but none of it was huge... maybe one of the layers has a gremlin in there somewhere though! I've brought that layout into a new project and it's certainly a lot happier.

Thank you all for the very helpful suggestions - really appreciated. I've just cleared the cache and it's certainly improved noticeably! (Thank you @PeterMacKenzie2 and @DanPatterson ). I'm also exporting a layout to start a new project (this is taking a long time... hopefully it will be done soon!). I'm using locally stored data (on an SSD drive) so it's not that, and am already on version 2.8, but good suggestion @AubriOtis . I will run the ArcGIS Pro Performance Assessment Tool as soon as I'm clear of my current deadline (thank you @TomBole - good suggestion!) I'll also work through the other suggestions in the link that @DanPatterson provided. Thank you all, really appreciate the help!

Hi, I've been working in ArcGIS Pro for some time, and performance has been reasonable, but a project I'm working on has just ground to a halt (it is suddenly taking 10 minutes to do tasks that previously were taking a few seconds). I have roughly 50 maps and 50 layouts within it. Is that number of maps and layouts likely to cause a problem? Are there any suggestions for improving performance, without needing to split this up into separate projects?

Hi @clsavage10 , does the document here help at all? https://doc.arcgis.com/en/web-appbuilder/create-apps/widget-filter.htm Feel free to post some screen shots of the 'configure filter' dialog box that you're working on if that might help too?

Hi @OwenGeo , I've just tried again and it has worked perfectly this time! I'm not sure why it didn't when I tried it previously. Thank you for persisting with this! The linking within collections would be great within time as well, thank you. Helen

It would also help with navigation around collections - where you might want to guide a user to a particular point in the story (and stay within the same browser tab).

Thanks @OwenGeo , sorry - I should have been clearer in my suggestion, the trouble with that is that the links open in new tabs. Is there a way of getting around this? I've tried adding target="_self" to the end of the URL but can't get the link to work then.
