Thanks Jimmy (and thanks Tom for writing the article!) That's very helpful. I'm back to actually wondering whether ArcGIS Pro is really, actually fit for purpose for anything other than some basic map production! I'd be really interested to know what proportion of GIS professionals have fully moved to ArcGIS Pro.

This is a good point, and my computer has been perfectly adequate for most things I need to do in ArcGIS Desktop (sometimes a bit slow if I need to process a lot of lidar data or similar). The current config is: Intel (R) Core(TM) i7-4600m CPU @ 2.90GHz 16GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M graphics card the system drive is an SSD which isn't massive but should be adequate (250GB with 46GB free) but ArcGIS Pro is painfully slow (and I mean unworkably so, it can sometimes take a minute or so to just change something basic in the symbology panel). Any suggestions to optimise it? Is there anything different I could be doing with swapfile sizes, etc.? Thank you to everyone for the suggestions. Helen

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for Intel Core i7 or i9 vs. Intel Xeon or Intel Core Xeon?

Thanks Jimmy, that's very helpful. Pro just took > 40 seconds to open here, without even thinking about doing anything useful with it, so that's a useful comparison!

Thanks Thomas, that's really helpful. I definitely fall into the 'You have ADHD and run 4-5 Pro projects at once...' category!

My trusty Lenovo ThinkPad has always been great for ArcGIS desktop, but just doesn't cut the mustard when running ArcGIS Pro. Any suggestions for the best PC (not laptop) recommendations to run both ArcGIS desktop and ArcPro? I've been looking through the recommended and optimal system requirements, here: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/get-started/arcgis-pro-system-requirements.htm is it feasible to get a system that works blisteringly fast with ArcPro for under £3,000? If so, any specific recommendations? Many thanks, Helen

Hi Owen, Thanks for getting back to me. I didn't change anything on the map and the issue seemed to resolve itself. Annoyingly I had rebuilt another version of the story map by this point anyway! All the best, Helen

Hi all, I've just been editing some story map content (for a story that has, up until this point, been publicly accessible). Not much has changed, a couple of layers were added (and shared), and suddenly the story map is requesting login credentials to view it. I've been through the support article below, and can't see anything that is relevant to this: https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000012364 The story map I'm working on is here: https://arcg.is/zTHm0 (work in progress). I can create a new story map from the same underlying web map, and I don't have the same issue. Any other suggestions? Thanks, Helen

Hi Melissa, I eventually got a workaround by changing the properties of the legend to switch it to the wrong data frame, and then switching it back again. Not exactly elegant, but it might help a bit? Helen

Hi all (and hi Joseph Nunn!) I keep getting the same issue - it's highly annoying! I'm using ArcGIS Pro 2.1.2 and the workaround described above doesn't seem to work for me. Is there no way of adding layers back into a legend, to avoid having to set up the style again?

Hi, I have a number of feature classes in a geodatabase stored locally, that I would like to upload to a web map on AGOL. There are a large number of fields in each, and they are all set up with field aliases. In order to upload the data, as far as I understand, I have to export it to shapefile and upload the shapefile as a zip. When it is exported to shapefile I lose all of the alias names. Is there any way of retaining the alias names, so that I don't have to enter them all again once the data has been uploaded? Many thanks in advance for any help. Helen

Hi Jay, The issue has been raised as a bug by ESRI (see the thread here: Story Map Shortlist iOS issue ), and they're hoping to resolve it in the release that will be rolled out at the end of June, but sadly that won't be in time for either your event or mine! Best wishes, Helen
