I've managed to get the create_replica_portal_sample working on my desktop https://github.com/Esri/ArcREST/blob/master/samples/create_replica_portal_item.py however in production it needs to run on a server through a proxyserver. All I can get is the error "URLError: <urlopen error Tunnel connection failed: 407 Proxy Authorization Required>" I suspect the magic should happen by filling in the securityinfo dict in the right way but can someone shine some light on this? without proxy, on my desktop, it's: securityinfo{'securitytype':'Portal','username':'myagolusername','password':'myagolpassword'} I can fill in the proxy_url and proxy_port but that doesn't work. I suspect I need to authenticate myself on the proxyserver. I did so in another script where I used the form 'http://mynetworkaccount:mynetworkpassword@proxyserver.com:proxyportmynetworkpassword@proxyserver.com:proxyport' but that used urllib2.ProxyHandler and I do not know how to translate that to this case. Any help, as you all know, is greatly appreciated.

"9003" might be a database error hinting on a corrupt database. As a small attachment might fit in a single datablock where larger attachment might need more (Just a thought, I didn't test this) you might test your database for consistency. There are many links on how to proceed with a 9003 error in your ms-sql database. just my 0.02

Sorry Sander, Unable to duplicate your problem. iOS 9.3.2 (13F69) on an ipad air with Collector 10.4.0 and offline editing is not an issue. Bert

I 've found a solution for my problem using the create_replica_portal_item.py from GitHub - Esri/ArcREST: python package for REST API (AGS, AGOL, webmap JSON, etc..) . Had to modify the script slightly (see comment at github) but now I can download what I want. When there are attachments they are downloaded too. regards, Bert

Is it possible this tools doesn't download the attachments when used from a basic (arcview) license? I ask because I've published a brand new feature layer using my basic licensed arcmap for desktop and after that I've enabled attachments in that layer in the agol desktop. I am now able to add pictures in collector on my ipad and I see those pictures/attachments in the agol desktop. I can also see them after dragging the feature service from "My Hosted Services" in the Catalog window to the toc. But after 'create local copy for editing' I've got everything but the attachments so I wonder if technology is required for which i'm not licensed. No error message was seen, only: It would be usefull to know whether or not we need to upgrade our license or investigate other tips shared in this thread. thanks in advance for your time! Bert

Hello Dan, Sorry it took so long to respond, a holiday was interfering ... Nothing follows my try-except block (I don't even have one), what you see is what i wrote. What web example are you referring to please? Is it the one Wes Miller refers to? regards, Bert

Hello Jake, Yes, I've seen and used your service before (and I am grateful you wrote it) but unfortunately it doesn't download the attachments in the database like it is on the online site. If I remember correct the attachments are send to a separate folder but this morning I could not even get any attachments to download using the toolbox (arcmap 10.3.1 for desktop, 10.3.1.4959, basic license). I retried after a fresh download of your tool but still no attachments ... The toolbox returns a message about 'no attachments found'. It seems really strange to me that I am capable of manually exporting and downloading a filegeodatabase (in which I find all photo's with their relations) but that it is impossible to script that workflow. Another thing I've tried is opening the hosted feature service in arcmap for desktop and 'create a local copy for editing' which took quite a while but also lacked the photo's/attachments.

I would like to create a fgdb from a hosted feature layer automatically via a schedule or script and download that fgdb so I have a local copy, as a backup but also to update my local data. Manually it's no problem to export to fgdb and download that file that but how can I automate it? Preferrably using python. I suspect this might be possible using REST but I find/understand no leads to do this, help is appreciated, (you will be mentioned in the credits and we might send cookies :-)) Bert

Hello All, We have a license server serving three concurrent (basic) licenses. During daytime these are in use by my collegues and myself, during nighttime I've some python scripts managing and updating our AGOL environment. Now, I want to check if my scripts can obtain a license and if not, log this ( or retry after some time or send me a mail) so I tried this: import arcpy
from arcpy import env
import sys
if arcpy.CheckProduct("arcview")=="Available":
print "License is available"
else:
print "No license available"
# Send a mail or something
But this either results in "License is available" or Python gives me a traceback ending in: RuntimeError: NotInitialized from which I understand that arcpy cannot be imported. (Which seems reasonable considering I need a license to use arcpy) Is there a way to check the availability of a license without getting this error? I would like to end up in the else: clause so I can send me a mail to notify no backup is made. thanks in advance,

Hi Warren, I feel you pain, a lot of us here on geonet have been in a similar situation and still find ourselves in sometimes. Right now my best advise is to take a breath, have a walk is a park or whatever is nearby and retry from start. Relax bro. What's the error you're getting? Bert

One more discovery: Turns out that (in my situation, ymmv) the authentication is key. So setting the username in the proxy"definition" is mandatory. Either in the environment setting or in proxies = urllib2.ProxyHandler I needed to add http://username:password@abc.com:1234 hth, Bert

Pete, You are correct! The maps that are available offline and previously downloaded to my iPad are still available after a powerdown/reboot. Collector even seems to refuse me to log off while in airplane mode so to prevent me from locking myself out. Bert

So what you're saying Pete, When I have to reboot my ipad, either because of an iOS update or while the battery went flat (happens quite often), I can only make use of collector after going online to log in? That's bad. We use Ipad airs without phone card because we only need the gps function and phone coverage is bad in our vast terrain. Maps are synchronised using wifi when in the office. But if I understand correctly we should probably provide our fieldworkers with phonecards to save them a trip to the office after the battery went flat....
