Yes, it's a bug, BUG-000096290. The NADCON/HARN Alaska, Guam, Rota, and Saipan grid files are not working. The bug is in 10.4.1 as well. We have a fix that we're currently testing in development and are working to get a hot-fix/patch out as soon as we can. Melita

Can you set a transformation in ArcMap? You can add the TM65 data to ArcMap, then set the data frame's coordinate system to 2157. Click the Transformations button to set a transformation. (take the first one) At that point you can right click the layer and select data, export data (use the data frame's coordinate system). Also, once the data frame's transformation is set, the Project Tool may pick it up automagically. Melita

I agree with Neil. On your step when you change the coordinate system, rather than selecting the geographic coordinate system folder, right click the name of the current coordinate system, GRS_1980_IUGG_1980_Lambert_Azimuthal_Equal_Area, and select modify. That will open the dialog that I showed earlier. On that dialog, click the geographic coordinate system button on the lower right side. That will leave the Lambert azimuthal projection and parameters alone.

When you go to edit the coordinate system (spatial reference), on the bottom half of the projected coordinate system dialog, you can click the Change button to edit just the geographic coordinate system.

I would expect that the European data is on ETRS89 which uses GRS80. Can you redefine the (Define Projection or in "catalog") the geographic coordinate system for the raster to ETRS 1989? Then you should starting seeing OSGB_1936_To_ETRS_1989_1 as a possible transformation. It's file-based and will only affect data in the UK. Edit: If you don't see that transformation, you might be on an earlier version that didn't have the grid file. Please post what software version you're using. Melita

Neil, the internal "folder" structure information was built from the prj file names, but then I think someone (wasn't me) that the idea to improve the sort order by adding an extra space to the single digit entries.

It's not 100%. The NAD83 xx UTM 2S, and some 4N and 5N zones have 1 space because I added them after we first set up the internal "folder" structure files. 1 space: Old Hawaiian UTM 4N and 5N HARN / PACP00 / PA11 2S, 4N, 5N American Samoa 1962 UTM 2S Ocean UTM zones like Pitcairn 1967 UTM 9S, RGPF UTM 5S - 8S, MOP78 UTM 1S, etc. Includes NZ. "county" or "DOT" sets like IaCRS Norway Generally, GK zones do not have the extra space.

And the answer is... there should be two spaces between Zone and 9N. That's true of most of the NAD-based UTM zones. The name look-up that arcpy is performing isn't on the object's internal name ("NAD_1983_UTM_Zone_9N"), but on the name used for the coordinate systems "folder" structure. Dan has it correct, we put in transformations (and any needed data files) for the US because it's what we had. Much of our information comes from the EPSG Geodetic Parameter Registry. You can make a request to include information there, and we will implement it, if possible. Or start a support ticket with technical support or a distributor. Information needed would include: Transformation: Suggested name Source/Target VCS If geoid model/other file needed: what's the base GCS? Method / file type or description Parameters / grid file name Extent/area of use Accuracy Source of any data files--can they be downloaded or otherwise obtained and can they be redistributed? If you use the Define Projection tool on a raster, you should have both the XY and Z coordinate system tabs. You must set the XY coordinate system first. When I did this, I still could not see the vertical coordinate system when I looked at the spatial reference on the data's property page in catalog.
