Here are some troubleshooting tips: You must be running ArcGIS Server 10 SP1 or greater. (which you are) Must be using ArcGIS Server Authentication, which is token based. No web server authentication. When connecting to your service, ArcGIS.com tries to get a token to use the service. Check that the token service is visible externally. Use this URL to get info about the ArcGIS Server: http://<server>/ArcGIS/rest/info Look at the setting for Token Service URL. If this URL is not externally accessible, then ArcGIS.com won’t be able to get a token. You need to edit the web.config files, located here for IIS. C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ArcGIS\rest\web.config C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ArcGIS\Tokens\web.config If the Token Service is accessible, see if you can generate a token. https://<server>/ArcGIS/Tokens/gettoken.html If you can generate a token, but it still doesn’t work, check the error message from ArcGIS.com (use the browser developer tools to track requests). If you get a http status 500 error, it may mean that our servers do not trust the certificate given by this Url. This sometimes happens when SSL providers change their root certificates and we don’t have the most recent ones. No self signed certificates.

Yes, I agree that Collector should handle this better. Actually, all clients that edit the data should handle this. The only suggestion I have is that when you define the feature templates, you can specify a default value for required fields. At least then it would have a value. In general, this is an area we're continuing to work on and it will get better. Mike

If you published your layer from ArcGIS for Desktop, the credit information as part of the layer properties from ArcMap will display over the map. The Credit property on items in ArcGIS.com do not display on the map. For a hosted feature layer published to ArcGIS Online, it is possible to change the text you see on the map, but not from ArcGIS.com. You have to use the Services Directory to update the definition of the copyright property. Mike

Do you mean independent of the visibility range of the layer itself? I assume you want to restrict label drawing at the smaller scales of layer drawing? What are you trying to do? At this time, we don't have plans to implement this idea, but it's interesting. Perhaps submit it to the community at ideas.arcgis.com. Thanks, Mike

If your users are part of a subscription, they should have access. Instead of using the URL you provide above, try searching for the item. The URL to the organization is different from the general arcgis.com site, thus you get challenged to sign in (however, if you sign in, it should just work). When searching, the user will need to check the box to search outside the organization. Also, your organization will have to allow searches outside the organization (check settings on My Organization, Edit Settings button. Then look at Security tab.) thanks Mike

The problem turned out to be feature templates that had null default values, but the fields as published from desktop did not allow null values. The question is how did the templates end up with null values. We were not able to figure out the exact cause. Republishing the shapefile from desktop resolved the problem. Alternatively, editing the feature templates in AGOL map viewer to add a default value would probably have cleared things up as well. Thanks, Mike

Servers store dates in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). If you don't specify a time zone for your data, it is assumed to be UTC. Web browsers convert the date to local time. Thus, the time offset changes the date display in popups. For example, if you are located in California during standard daylight time, what you see is 8 hours earlier (UTC-8) than the time in the data. Thus a date of 7/7/2014 12:00 a.m. would be converted to 7/6/2014 5:00 p.m. by the browser. When you publish your data from ArcMap, you can set the time zone on a layer in Layer Properties (Time tab). Because you are providing the time zone, the server will correctly convert local time to UTC time when storing it on the server. Then, no matter where you are in the world, the browser will display the correct time, for the particular time zone. In your case, it probably doesn't matter, But for example, if you're dealing with earthquake data, a web map would correctly indicate that an earthquake happened at 6am California time, but show 9am in New York.
