In order to see your content shared in groups, you must change the filter setting at the top of the page from "Show web content" to "Show all content". Also, I see you've learned from another thread that only services can be added to web maps currently. Thanks, Mike

You've found a bug! We have a problem displaying image services when embedded. This won't be fixed until we release the next update to arcgis.com early next year. The workaround is to remove the image service layer: https://gisservice.mt.gov/arcgis/rest/services/NAIP/ImageServer Sorry for the inconvenience. Mike

Frank, I'm just wondering how you were able to connect to the internet through other applications, like a web browser, without this proxy information set on your system. IE, Chrome and Firefox will all use this system setting by default. So perhaps you manually configured it for your browser as well or you weren't using a web browser from this computer? Thanks, Mike

When I connect to your GIS Server I can see the Code Enforcement service and am getting 18 results returned. What I suspect is that the list is getting cached by the browser. Try clearing your browser cache and see if that helps. Thanks, Mike

Frank, I'm glad you got it working. For our future reference, and for others who may be having this same problem, you just set the proxy server under the LAN Settings, correct? Thanks, Mike

How about accessing the basemaps through this link? Does it work for you? http://links.esri.com/arcgisdesktop/en/arcmap931/layers This link provides access to layer files (LYR), rather than layer packages (LPKs). Thanks, Mike

Frank, What exactly are you trying to do? While there is a problem connecting directly to arcgis.com from ArcGIS desktop, perhaps there is some workaround to the specific thing you are trying to do that we can provide for you. Thanks, Mike

I have ArcGIS 9.3.1 and would like to share content using a web map (including the data in the geodatabase). My understanding is that I am unable to add a layer package to ArcGIS Online that can be accessible from a web map using ArcGIS 9.3.1. is that correct? Yes this is correct If this is the case, then I am looking for an alternative approach. If you have an ArcGIS Server in your enterprise, are you able to create and host a Map Service that can be accessible to the general public? Can this Map Service be incorporated with the basemaps available on ArcGIS Online and ultimately used in Flex & iOS applications? As long as your ArcGIS Server is publicly accessible, then you should have no problems using it with ArcGIS.com web maps or directly with a Flex and iOS apps. Mike

ArcGIS.com map viewer can't do this. However, have you tried using our free desktop viewer, ArcGIS Explorer Desktop? You would need to download the program and run it on your computer. http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/explorer/index.html It has the ability to import GPS Exchange Format Files (.GPX) files. Thanks, Mike

The JavaScript and Silverlight APIs only support adding services to maps. Layer packages are just files and are not "web enabled." We are working to support turning layer packages into services, but this ability is not available at this time. At the current time, you need publish services (through ArcGIS Server) in order to view them in these APIs. Thanks, Mike

Can you provide the URL to the REST endpoint of your map service so that we can take a look? Alternatively, if you have a web map that you've made in ArcGIS.com that you can share publicly, we can get the URL from that too. One idea that may be the problem is: if your GIS server is not public (e.g., behind a firewall), ArcGIS.com won't be able to generate legends for any services. This is because the utility that generates the legend requires access to the map service. You will be able to view the map service display in the ArcGIS.com map viewer because you're browser is running inside your firewall, and thus can see it. The browser views the service directly and doesn't go through ArcGIS.com. Thanks, Mike

I'm sorry the patch didn't fix the problem for you. We need more information about your particular configuration, network, etc. to help narrow down the problem. Can you please contact Technical Support and describe the problem you are having? They are better able to help narrow it down than we can do on the forums. Thanks for your help and patience. Mike

Only ArcGIS Server map, image, and feature services can be added to the map. Other layer types, such as layer packages, are not supported at this time. Just to be sure, however, you do see your layer in My Contents, right? It should be there. It just can't be added over the map. However, it could be shared with others through a group. Thanks, Mike
