Yeah, thats going to be hard, I think. We typically name them the same, so its easier to go back and update. Save them in the same directory. May be a good idea for the Ideas site. I can see that this could get hard especially if there is turnover on staff and not everything is documented. It seems like it could go in the Summary, should they support this, but otherwise you would just have to studiously update the Comments section.

Hello All, Is there a way to generate summary reports (or even an excel output) of point attribute data in ArcReader? If not, can this be accomplished in ArcMap and included in the PMF package? I am using ArcInfo 9.3.1. Any help with this would be great. Thanks Barry There is an idea out there that is similar that you can vote on. https://c.na1.visual.force.com/apex/ideaView?id=087300000008ErAAAU https://c.na1.visual.force.com/apex/ideaView?id=0873000000087upAAA https://c.na1.visual.force.com/apex/ideaView?id=0873000000087ukAAA

Seems like the graphics for File and Geodatabase for selecting a loc file could be a bit more refined. I see the pressed button, but the unpressed button seems flush with no border with the surrounding gray scale of the dialog.

The Find Dialog in ArcReader 10, has an incomplete graphic for the Progress bar when Searching. It looks a bit clunky. ArcGIS ArcReader 10. Still a bit clunky at startup, but it works. Locators still show up as 9.3.1. Shouldn't this have been updated to 10 with the SP1 upgrade? Weren't the servers updated to 10?

I cannot identify from inside the magnifier window in ArcReader 10. Is this the expected behavior? Appears to be fixed at SP1.

I think everything is moving to the web, but I don't think Explorer can touch Reader in performance, but explorer at least supports GP. Too bad Reader doesn't support GP, or does it?

I am seeing the same behavior with the continuous Zoom in and out button as well as the Pan button. Whatever is selected the last time, should be selected, if I mouse over the button pressed previously to the last selection, it is unselected after the mouse over, when it should change to unselected after I select a new tool. This is the normal behavior. Is this expected at SP1?

So, when I click the zoom in button, the button looks pressed, if I now select the Zoom out button, both now appear to be selected. I cannot have the zoom in and out buttons appear to be active at the same time. There is a sort of refresh issue going on here. If I mouse over the zoom in/out they get unselected. Repro Steps: Zoom in - Zooms In Observe the zoom in button Zoom Out - Zooms Out Observe the Zoom out and in buttons Mouse over the zoom in button Observe the selection is now unselected Zoom in - Zooms in Observe the two buttons selected Mouse over the Zoom Out Observe the Zoom out button is now unselected. XP SP3, 10 SP1

Using Reader SP1, I concur, launching a Reader document over a network is pretty slow. Once its been launched, though, it picks up in speed, or as I would expect.

Have you gotten arcpy/arcgisscripting to play well with in IronClad? I haven't ever been able to get it in any sort of working state that I'd trust in production. IronPython is great, but if you're going the .Net route you're going to need to use ArcObjects and the .Net SDKs. You get Python syntax to do your coding in but you're in a totally different development environment. I haven't really tried in a few months, but I would concur, that in a production env it may not work as expected, which is why I mention Resolver since William was the initial builder of IronClad, and they continue to this day supporting the code. Outside of the Iron Languages, just not to keen on ArcObjects or .Net for that matter. If I wanted ArcObjects, I suppose I would just use comtypes. I wonder how well .Net Types would work though, hmmm.

You can play with IronClad, from Google Code (http://code.google.com/p/ironclad/), which its whole purpose is to get C based code into IronPython, but if there are issues take it up with them, since Esri isn't really keen on IronPython. I would be interested in what you discover if you go down this path, the guys from Resolver (http://www.resolversystems.com/) were very helpful to me back at 93. They are behind this project. Also, see http://www.resolversystems.com/products/ironclad/

Community Analyst is a separate user interface from BAO. While there is overlap currently, the two will diverge in functionality and content going forward. You can access the beta at www.esri.com/communityanalyst. Thank you. I will take a look. Is there a separate forum system for issues?
