Hi Caitlin, can you invite my username, Karate_Kelly to a group and share one of your sample maps with the group? This way it won't be shared publicly, and i can check how the layers are referenced in the map. Saving the map should save the changes to the map and not the layer, so i'm not sure what is happening.

HI Alexis, Thanks for the feedback. This is definitely something we will consider for the future. I also wanted to point this post to a more recent blog article that Katie Cullen wrote that includes some screenshots: https://community.esri.com/community/gis/web-gis/arcgisonline/blog/2018/05/31/the-case-of-the-missing-group

Hi Caitlin, Do you own the layers that are included in your web map? IF so, when you change the symbology or web map do you save the layer, or save the change by saving the web map. If you save the layer specifically from the options in the contents and you own the layer, it updates the layer visualization properties which can be perpetuated with other web maps that consume the layer. If you save a copy of the map, the symbology changes will be saved to the map and should not be perpetuated to other copies of the web map. Are you able to share your web maps? -Kelly

A summary and update of the issues yesterday Thank you for your patience as we worked through performance and publishing issues with certain ArcGIS Online hosted features layers yesterday. We understand the urgency and importance of continuing to provide a resilient, redundant and well architected system and we are confident that everything is back to normal and no data was lost. What happened: Between 3:00AM and 6:45 PM PST Tuesday September 4, 2018 ArcGIS Online experienced continual intermittent problems with a subset of our infrastructure that provides hosted feature services and spatial analysis. Why did it happen: The issue was due to a weather/lightning event which caused electrical problems and a shutdown of part of the infrastructure with the Microsoft Azure South Central US region. This infrastructure shut down resulted in a subset of ArcGIS Online Services being unavailable for publishing or viewing. Our Response: The ArcGIS Online operations team worked with Microsoft Azure during the event to diagnose the problem and then began work on swift recovery. During the investigation and recovery, the status of the issue was updated at status.arcgis.com until restoration was verified and tested. In parallel to the above activity we also triggered our Disaster Recovery process for restoring affected services in a different region from database backups. The recovery of the original affected data center completed earlier. Additional notes and plans: Our services already run in High Availability mode covered by the SLA of Azure and take advantage of redundancy and fail over across multiple instances. We will investigate and consider additional improvements once the root cause analysis from Microsoft has been released to strengthen the availability of our current deployments. We will also look at improvements to the communication process to insure you have the most reliable and updated information possible.

Hi Tim, Are you still experiencing the issue? The issue from yesterday is resolved so there shouldn't be any remnants. I'd suggest giving a quick browser cache clear incase of saved responses in your browser, but if the issue is still on going, please get in touch with tech support and share the layer and web map. Thanks, Kelly

Thanks Randy, I see how you were able to reproduce this issue now. Can you get this bug reported to support so we can work to address this workflow in the future? Let me know if you need help getting in contact with technical support. -Kelly

Hi, The data storage size is dependent on the actual data, field number and stored geometry in the dataset. Estimations are often inaccurate as all datasets vary. If looking to estimate for budgeting, the most accurate way to determine the size is to upload the data and view the size. Data that is larger than desired can be easily deleted. As mentioned above, short term storage of feature datasets is generally quite low. -Kelly

Hi, Total remaining credits is the amount of credits available to your account. There can be a minor lag between running an event (like geoenrichment, spatial analysis, tile generation, viewing premium content) and seeing these credits reflect in the total available credits. It's rarely more than 10 minutes, but if you run a process and immediately check this value, you may experience the lag for a few minutes. Storage credits are calculated differently in that once per hour, the storage size is determined in your organization and the total remaining credits is updated. In your example, you are using Geoenrichment, so you are seeing the lag as described above when running a specific event. -Kelly

Hey Simon, The post is now in the ArcGIS Online space, so no need to move it or delete it. Here is our documentation about how we count views for web maps and hosted feature services which includes how the views are calculated for different item types. Item details—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS Monitor usage For item owners and administrators, the Usage tab provides usage details about an item that help you gauge its popularity. Usage details show how many times the item has been used for the time period you select. Historical usage information is available for the past year. Depending on the item type, usage details can include the number of views, requests, or downloads, and the average number of views, requests, or downloads per day. Views refers to the number of times the item has been viewed or opened. For maps, scenes, nonhosted layers, and web apps, the view count is increased by one when you open the item page or open the item in Map Viewer. For example, if you opened the item page for a map image layer and clicked Open in Map Viewer, the count would increase by two. For other items such as mobile apps, KML, and so on, the view count is increased by one when you open the item; the count does not increase when you open the item details page. For hosted web layers (feature, tile, and scene), the number of requests is provided instead of views. Requests refers to the number of times a request is made for the data within the layer. For example, someone might open an app that contains a hosted feature layer. Opening the app counts as one view for the application, but multiple requests may be necessary to draw all the features in the hosted layer and are counted as such.

Hi Michael, Our operations team is currently investigating and working to resolve the issue. Please keep an eye on http://status.arcgis.com for updates and I will also update this post. On the Organization page of your ArcGIS Online organization, you will also be able to see the status of the affected systems. Thanks and we are working to get this resolved as soon as possible. -Kelly
