I hate to ask this, but when you view the table is the "Show Selected Records" button highlighted at the bottom of the table?

Hey All, Whenever I populate an empty file geodatabase with the Local Government Information Model using XRay for ArcCatalog I end up with 43 differences when I run the "Analyze Differences" tool. I also get errors when I enable the information model on the Parcel Fabric so that I can use the parcel workflows saying that I am missing fields (specifically the FloorDesignator in the ParcelFabric_Lines and FLOORDEGNTR in TaxParcelCondo). This doesn't seem like a very good way to get the schema loaded if it is missing fields and field properties are different. In fact, the missing fields don't show up in the differences analysis, which seems weird. Has anyone been able to load the schema without differences? If so, what is the process? Thanks,

I am attempting to create an SDE geodatabase using the LGIM schema. The introduction to the LGIM page in the help documentation refers to other considerations for an enterprise implementation, but when I click on the link in the tip section of that page, the link is broken. Any chance that page is actually out there somewhere? Or can someone point me to a blog post or white paper? Soon? Thanks,

Still trying to work through this problem. I found that there are other considerations for implementing the LGIM in an enterprise SDE geodatabase, but I am unable to see what those considerations are since the ArcGIS 10.2 for Server Enterprise link in the tip section is broken on the help page. (I may post this in a separate post) So I am attempting to get the workflows to work on a file geodatabase. I have used XRay for ArcCatalog to import the XML schema to an empty file geodatabase. After doing this I ran the "Analyze Differences" tool in XRay and came up with 43 differences. Most of these differences are field properties and and dataset properties. I noticed that in the Getting Started with the Local Government Information Model video, that Heather had 42 differences, but didn't make note of it, or seem to think there was a problem. See image: I'm not sure if that has anything to do with my problem, but it bugs me nonetheless. I attempted to enable the information model on the ParcelFabric in the ParcelEditing feature dataset and came up with the very same errors that were in my SDE version. Field report: Field: FloorDesignator is missing from class ParcelFabric_Lines Field report: Field: FLOORDEGNTR is missing from class TaxParcelCondo Editor tracking report: Editor tracking: Editor tracking not enabled on class ParcelFabric_Parcels Editor tracking report: Editor tracking: Editor tracking not enabled on class ParcelFabric_Control Editor tracking report: Editor tracking: Editor tracking not enabled on class ParcelFabric_Plans I then followed the steps in the Migrating your data to the Local Government geodatabase page exactly and ran the "Analyze Differences" tool again and got the same number of differences - 43, none of which were in the Parcel Fabric in the ParcelEditing feature dataset. Trying to enable the information model on this parcel fabric netted the same errors - no FloorDesignator field in ParcelFabril_Lines, no FLOORDEGNTR field in TaxParcelCondo, and no error tracking in ParcelFabric_Parcels, Control and Plans. However, if I finish the "Enable Information Model" wizard regardless of the errors, and then add this parcel fabric to a map, start editing it and open the Parcel Workflows, I am able to initiate the workflows. It still bothers me that there are differences between the xml schema and the geodatabase schema especially in the case of missing fields. I may post this issue as a separate post as well. I hope this helps somebody down the road. Regards,

Hi, I'm trying to utilize the Parcel Workflows, but when I try to "Begin workflow" I get the following error: "The workflows are not available because the fabric does not have an information model that supports them. You can enable a fabric information model in the fabric properties, using the catalog window." So I go to the catalog window and enable the information model. I then get a few errors saying that I am missing the FloorDesignator field in the ParcelFabric_Lines class, and the FLOORDEGNTR field is missing from the TaxParcelCondo class. I also get three Editor Tracking errors saying that editor tracking is not enabled on the Parcels, Control and Plans classes. I am using the 10.2 xml document that I imported to an empty sde database using XRay for ArcCatalog. Thinking that might be the problem, I attempted using the workflows on the TaxParcelEditingMap.mxd template downloaded from the Land Records group, but I am getting the same errors on the sample parcel fabric. Anybody know what I am missing here? Thanks,

Joe, The workflows are new with 10.2, so I don't think they will work for 10.1. You may also want to look at some changes that were made to the information model between 10.1 and 10.2 where addresses are concerned. In 10.1 there were fields for road prefix direction, road name, road type etc. But with 10.2 the idea is you keep a single table of your road names, and there is only one field for the road attributes (Full Road Name) in the site address point table. The address editing map template has things set up so that many of your fields are populated using the attribute assistant. It may be wiser to upgrade to 10.2 to take full advantage of the templates and workflows. Hope that helps.

I have tried to recreate this, and it seems like I can "Keep Changes" after breaking lines, but once I start cutting out the right-of-ways, the new points foul up the line point order and causes the lines to go out of order. What is the process to save traverses? Thanks,

Greetings All, In my quest to figure out the parcel fabric, I have been entering a few subdivisions and I am experiencing some strange behavior when constructing from parent. I have entered a subdivision boundary, created the remainder parcel and now I am constructing the lots from the parent subdivision. I have broken the outer subdivision lines and successfully entered the outer right-of-way lines and wanted to save my work. It seems to me that clicking on the keep changes button would allow this, then I could open the construction in the Parcel Explorer window (which is what the popup help text for the tool says is possible). When I opened the parcel, it looks like the order of my line points was messed up. Now my lines go everywhere. (see attached image) I hardly think we are expected to finish the entire subdivision before saving. Power outages, interruptions etc. are quite common. I should be able to save my progress and come back to it later. Did this happen because I may have deleted some courses, or modified some because of typos? What happens when I am in the middle of entering courses and it's time to go home? What does everyone out there do? Any response would be appreciated. Thanks,

I am trying to get a process together for entering our parcels into the parcel fabric and the local government information model. Is it advisable to start with a parcel representing an entire PLSS section and then use construct from parent? Or is it better to start with one of the individual parcels and build out from there? I have been experimenting with the construct from parent method and I run into a problem when I am entering a subdivision that is an island within the full section. I enter the connection lines to the point of beginning and then enter the standard boundary lines for the subdivision, but when I build and mark the parent as historic, the connection lines to the point of beginning are duplicated in the two remaining parcels. Or do I create a new parcel in a plan, then once that one is created and joined, create a remainder parcel of the full section? I wanted to be able to use the basis of bearing option, but it is only available in the Construct From Parent? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks,

Also for posterity, I was encountering this problem because my Default Web Site in IIS Manager was not started. Right click on Default Web Site, hover over Manage Web Site, choose Start.

Thanks for the reply. Are you putting the web adaptor on the gis.comany.com (reverse proxy) machine? We are trying to get it configured now using a different web server running IIS instead of Apache.

I have a reverse proxy web server set up that worked with ArcGIS Server 10.0 and served up several applications. I used this technical article to set it up. I have now upgraded to ArcGIS Server 10.1 and I am having problems getting the reverse proxy server to connect to my ArcGIS Server. I have Apache running on the reverse proxy machine, so the way I understand it, I am unable to use the Web Adaptor (submitted an idea here so vote for it). Is there anyone out there in my situation that has their reverse proxy up and running? If I remember right, I had to set up a publisher connection to ArcGIS server through my reverse proxy machine and set up several folders. Is that still the case? I have a simple flex viewer app working but I can only see my operational layers when I use the localhost address. I get the following error when I go through either my reverse proxy machine or the intranet:
Parcel Query Layer layer failed to load: Fault code: Channel.Security.Error Fault info: Security error accessing url Fault details: Destination: DefaultHTTP
The esri imagery basemap shows up fine, just my services don't show. I would be very grateful for any help, tech support is not responding as quickly as I would like. Thanks,

The parameters are for a user running the tool outside of model builder. So if you were to double click the tool, or model in ArcCatalog, the two parameters would be shown in the tool's dialog. You could then specify what you want those parameters to be and run the tool. I also found that you could have used an SQL Expression as your variable type instead of String, that way when you set it as a parameter, the user could build the expression in a SQL Expression builder. When the SQL Expression variable is connected to the Select tool, the fields are available to the expression builder. This would be much better than the string variable because your user could build their own expression using the desired field and the unique values in that field instead of having to have the field and values memorized. I hope that clarifies things.

You won't need to iterate the selection, you can use the select tool in Analysis Tools > Extract toolbox. Use the output from the event layer creation as the input features for the select tool. You can then make the optional expression for the select tool a model parameter by going to the Insert menu and selecting "Create Variable..." and choose string as the variable type. You can then right click on the string variable and select "Model Parameter". Then connect the string variable to the select tool as the Expression input. For the string variable I would pre-load it with a default expression that works with the data to be selected - while editing the model double click the select tool and click on the SQL button to the right of the Expression input box to build a where clause. Build a valid expression, copy the text of the expression and click cancel. Then open the string variable and paste the expression into the string box in the string variable. If you want you can rename the string variable by right clicking on it and selecting "Rename". Rename it to be something like "Where Clause:", or "Selection Expression:" This name will show up when a user runs the tool and is asked for the parameters. You can also right click on the output of the select tool and make it a model parameter and create a default location and name. Model parameters allow the user of the tool to specify what goes in that box of the tool. The tool might look like the attached image when done. I hope that helps.
