If this 3D line is then converted to a polygon, how is the Z value derived for the resulting polygon?

How is 3D information stored for 3d polylines? Is it Z data for every vertex? If so, will "densifying" the line work as I expect it should, that is an interpolated Z value for every added vertex?

I forgot to add that personally, I'd use append as I can specify the sequence.

my 2cents worth. Any "road" that branches off the one and only highway should be named. As it's only really a driveway you can name it "Molly Way". House/properties along that driveway can then have the distance (in Imperial Units if you want) from the highway to wherever their postbox/property boundary is located.

One limitation of mosaic datasets which is understated is that the imagery it references will be available only if it is located where a user has access. If however, as is mostly the case, people within an organization will have different access levels, this could be a problem. Seeing that you already have an SDE database set up, "mosaic to new raster" looks like a viable option as anyone who can access the SDE database can see the image. Saving the images in the c: drive may work (haven't tried it that way) but then again maybe not as I expect it will be referencing the users c: drive and not the server's c. and it is a bit clunky

If you want to mosaic them together, the Mosaic to New Raster tool would be a good start. You can also just right click on the database connection then Import|Raster Datasets to bring them in one by one. Then again you can also right click then New|Mosaic Dataset and then add the rasters after. you can also have a look here Creating A Raster Dataset for more info.

Based on my experience, I've seen no noticeable difference in the performance and I've never really noticed if there was any difference. And although feature datasets are convenient to group similar featureclass (much like data folders) you actually lose a bit of functionality when it is used this way. Example: Editing a single featureclass in the dataset will lock everything in the dataset....

Hi Sara, I assume you are using 64 bit Stata. If all you want is to load the data, I would use csv instead of dbf when loading data in 64 bit Stata. Cheers, Mike
