Hello GIS family! San Francisco Rec and Park recently deployed the new Social Equity Analysis solution to better assist us in identifying high needs areas of the city where access to parks is also poor. The Solution makes sense on paper, but we're having difficulty deciphering the terms and tools used in the curated "Tasks." Full disclosure, none of us here are statisticians (just planners), so some of this needs to be dumbed down for us. For example, what is a community asset, condition, and/or outcome? In the parks world, an asset is park but I'm not sure that is what is meant in this Solution. Join us for a key opportunity to dig deep into modern GIS tools, methods, and approaches to Explore Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in a face-to-face, hands-on setting.   The opportunity will be a 4-day workshop, to be held from 7-10 August 2023 at the Central Pennsylvania's Community College's Gettysburg Campus.   This is a GeoTech Center Workshop, funded by the National Science Foundation. Clinton J. brought up a good point last week at the Midwest UC. The census standards for race & ethnicity data collection were established back in 1997 by the U.S. Office of Management & Budget! It hasn't changed much. In a perfect world, how should these numbers be classified to be more inclusive- especially with more people identifying as multiracial?  Has anyone's municipality or organization modernized these categories in recent surveys? Hello there,   I was wondering if ESRI has considered or would consider making a select subset of the ESRI Demographic data available for free to download for the purposes of doing equity/justice focused analysis? For example, energy burden is a key indicator in energy justice and it would be great to have public access to the Electricity Spending dataset to combine it with American Community Survey income data to calculate energy burdens for block groups. I know with my organizational AGOL account I can view the data, but that's only so useful and it'd be great for folks doing this work to be able to do analysis with the data.   Just a thought.
