Thinning polygon vertices

I have a polygon layer which has some "re-entrant" areas which are extrememly small, but still cause problems. I am wonering if there is a tool to "thin" the number of vertices making up the polygons, maybe to "no closer than 25 feet". I believe this would correct the "re-entrant" areas. I would like to run it on the whole layer.

I am running ArcEditor 9.3.1

Thank you for your time & suggestions

See if Simplify Polygon [Cartography/Generalization] or Eliminate or Elimiate Polygon Part [DataMgmt/Generalization] gives you the result you want/need.

Thank you for trying to answer my question. I think the tools you mentioned would work if I had ArcINFO, but I only have ArcEditor. I do believe I have found the tool that I need: Advanced Editing>generalize. I am still testing it with my data to be sure it provides the output I am looking for.

Again, thank you for your time

The SimplyfyPolygon tool which does exactly what you want according to your description requires ArcEditor license according to ArcGIS 10 desktop help.
