I am doing a tone of processing lately where we are overlaying 25m and 50 grids over a shapefile and then assigning x,y coordinates to the point. These are not the georeferencing x,y's just an arbitrary system to keep track of the points within the shapefile while out in the field. (i.e. plot 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, etc.) anyone have a script already done to accomplish this task? or at least a method for automating this without having to manually assign the values? I have about 10000 plots to label, so anything to speed this up would be great. oh and we are still on Arcview 9.3 here...
