Selecting Polygons that are intersected by polyline.

I am looking to select polygons that are intersected by polylines. When I run the intersect tool the output gives me a copy of the original polyline that was used.
Scenario: I am trying to select the census tracks that our fiber intersects.

Any suggestions?

Another thing to try is Select by Location and export the selected features to a new shp/fc (right click in the TOC > Data > Export Data).
