Minimum distance between objects in two layers

Dear all,

I am trying to calculate the minimum distance between consecutive road segments (represented by polygons on one layer) and different land-uses (represented by polygons on another layer with different values for each use in a specified field). So actually what I wish to generate is a table which indicates the distance to the closest polygon of each land-use, for each road segment.
Does anyone have an idea or information on tools which are capable of doing such a thing ?

You can try to make a loop: each round you select a landuse class and run the Generate Near Table tool. The output should contain distances from each road feature to the nearest landuse feature in the selection.
