How to convert KML to Layer in Arcmap 10.3.1?

Steps taken till now:

1) I have drawn a path in my Google Earth and i am trying to import that path into arcmap 10.3

2) I saved the path as RANDOM.kml file in my geodatabase

3) Opened Arcmap and went to the conversion tool: KML to Layer

4) In the Input KML, i selected the RANDOM.kml file from the geodatabase

However, an error 000814 pops up in the input KML section saying INVALID FILE TYPE.

This is a KML file file as shown in my File Geodatabase.

Below you can see the screenshot. NOTE that in the input kml file section the file type is *.kml

I am seeking help from the ESRI community on this problem. Your inputs would be invaluable!

save the kml to a folder ie c:/temp  and try again

Don't save the .kml in a .gdb...as Dan Patterson‌ mentions above, you should store it in a file folder such as c:/temp instead.
