How to convert a Multipatch feature to a 3D Polyline feature class in ArcGIS Pro

Hello,

I have a Multipatch feature class representing ducts/pipes in 3D, and I need to convert it into a 3D Polyline feature class (Polyline Z) so that it matches my existing geodatabase schema.

I have tried different options, including FME and ArcGIS tools, but I am not sure which is the best workflow.

What I need:

• Extract the centerlines or edges of the Multipatch

• Preserve Z values in the final Polyline

• Ensure the result is clean and suitable for analysis (not just visualization)

Software:

• ArcGIS Pro 3.5.2

• 3D Analyst extension is available

Question:

• Is Multipatch To Wireframe the best tool for this case?

• Are there other recommended workflows (ArcGIS Pro or FME) to accurately generate Polyline Z features from Multipatch geometry?
