Creating DEM from contours

hi

Please help me what are the steps to create a DEM from contours is it best to create topo to raster or its best to create from 3D analyst tool....like create a TIN first..actually i want it to show the terrain,slope etc...can anyone help me with the strps please and whch tool to use..thank you

I would go with TopoToRaster, if memory serves, the TIN variant will be more influenced by the close proximity of the points along the contour lines....but of course, you have the data so you can confirm

ok thank you...and to get the slope we need to use the tool 3D analyst

right??

Hi Alexander,

yes its the Spatial Analyst Tool: Surface --> Slope. A Tipp: If you later want to analyse or to calculate using the created DEM and other raster datasets: use a snap raster when creating the Elevation-Raster.
