Create reference index from appended features

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone knew how to make an index feature class based on appended features classes. I have a number of regular map tiles that I need to display, but the naming of the map tiles doesn't match any hard-copy reference index we have. There are hundreds of map tiles and I only wish to load a select few for a particular area.

Perhaps Create Fishnet tool is helpful:

You can use the unioned input as the extents to create fishnet cells with specified width and height or number of rows and columns.
