Hi there-

I have a US map with multiple polygon layers that I need to break into 50 state-by-state maps.  Is there an easy way to do this?  Unfortunately, I don't have a spatial analyst license, otherwise I could use Extraction>Extract by Polygon and my life would be wonderful.

I've been selectively exporting the layers with polygons that fall nicely within state lines, but for those layers with polygons that cross state lines, I have to cut it down somehow.  I tried to convert the layer to raster format, then use the clip function, selecting the state as the boundary, but the raster is so pixel-y that it looks a mess.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

union the polygons with the state polygons. That should split your cross-state polygons, and give the parts a 'state' attribute.
