Esri Certification

Hello all 

I was wondering about the esri certs, i would like to at some point do my first cert, i am new to Arcgis but i am loving it, My questions are 1. The $250 is that per try? and 2. What sort of time frame should i be waiting between starting and doing the first cert, i understand a lot of people will say till you feel comfortable and i get that i have no intentions of taking it today. I was just wondering.
