Updating Features on a Versioned Feature Service

Hello everyone,

I’ve been trying to update some field values in a specific feature class accessed through a versioned feature service. However, despite being connected to my version, I’ve noticed that my updates always seem to affect the default version rather than my own.

So far, the changes I’ve needed to make have been minor, so updating the default version wasn’t a big issue. But in the upcoming weeks, I’ll need to make a major change, which could cause problems if something goes wrong. While I could create a backup of the feature class as a precaution, I’d prefer to work within my own version of the feature service. If everything goes as planned, I can then reconcile and post to the default version.

The issue is that I haven’t been able to figure out how to connect directly to my version. Is it even possible to do this with a feature service? From my research, it seems most people are focused on working with versions in an enterprise geodatabase, rather than versions in a feature service.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated! How can I set the environment to directly access my version?

Not sure if that makes any difference but I am doing in Pro using ArcPy.

Thank you all in advance for your help!
