Trouble Deleting Domains

Hello everyone,

I'm having trouble deleting a domain list from my file geodatabase.  When I try to delete to domain I get an error that says:

"Failed to a delete domain from the database. 
The domain was not found.
The domain was not found. [name of domain]"

I also cannot add any new entries to the domain or change the domain name and description; I get a similar error that says:

"Failed to update a domain.
The domain was not found.
The domain was not found."

The domain is not attached to any attribute fields.

One thing I noticed was that if I try to edit the domain name a box symbol appears at the end of the domain name when cursor is in the window to type more text.

Any suggestions?

Tom,

1. Are you trying to delete the domain from ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Desktop? What is the version of ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Desktop?
2. Is it a coded value or range domain?
3. Have you assigned the domains in any feature class or standalone database table?
4. Does it give the same error if you try using Delete Domain—Help | ArcGIS Desktop ?

Can I answer, if you don't mind?

1. I use ArcGIS Desktop v.10.5

2. It's range domain of small integer type

3. No, domain not assined to any feature class

4. Yes, it does
