Can someone tell me if the World Geocoding Service is down or if I am doing something wrong?  I am trying to connect to it in ArcMap 10.1.  I am able to connect to http://geocode.arcgis.com/arcgis/services using my AGOL Organization Account credentials, but the World service never shows up after I connect.

I am following the instructions at http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//00250000004v000000, but when I get to step 7, I don't see the World service, and I can't browse to it from the Addres Locator Manager under the Geocoding toolbar.

I connected successfully about a month ago, but now don't know why this isn't working.

Hello,
You have to add the World service to the Geocoding toolbar,

Once you add the World Geocoding service using the 'Add ArcGIS server' and provide your ArcGIS Onlne Subscription credentials,
It should display in the Catalog as 'arcgis on geocode.arcgis.com (user)', if you expand the directory, you will see that a 'World' service is there, let us know if you are able to see this show up in Catalog.
Then, You can add the 'World' service to your Geocoding toolbar, by navigating to 'Manage Address Locators' --> Add --> navigating to the GIS Server, 'arcgis on geocode.arcgis.com (user)' and selecting the 'World' locator service.

Let us know if it works

I have added the geocoding service in the Catalog as you mention and as is outlined in the on-line help pages, but it does not expand and there is no "World" service under it.  I see "arcgis on geocode.arcgis.com (user)," but there is nothing under it.

The screen image shows how I am connected to both the Accuweather and the geocode map services, but only the Accuweather has content under it.

I am having the same issue. I am not able to expand the directory and nothing shows up in the contents tab. I have a trial ArcGIS Online subscription, but my first question is do you have to have 10.1 installed? I am currently using 10.0.

I have updated to 10.1 and still have the same issue. Im assuming it has to do with my security settings??

I'm having the same issue. I have ArcGIS 10 Desktop with SP5. I don't see the World locator after adding http://geocode.arcgis.com/arcgis/services with my trial credentials.  Any help would be appreciated!

Is there a solution? I am having the same problem. After connecting to the geocode.argis.com server, it looks empty in my catalog tree. There is no World service.

Thanks.

Once you connect to the service:

In the Catalog window in ArcMap, you can select the address locator you want to add to the map document, then click the selected locator and drag it to the table of contents in ArcMap. The locator is added to the Address Locator Manager dialog box.
